With new COVID-19 safety measures in effect, travel looks a lot different at the moment. Here's what you need to know before you get on that plane to Les Diablerets:

• Before you book a flight, check if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing official government websites.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to temporarily lower your mask for ID purposes.
• Rather than handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it straight on the scanner yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag and submitted for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, like your wallet, keys and phone, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you have for screening. Food items often set off the alarm. Placing them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to touch and inspect your belongings.
