The best area to stay in Koestraat is within the historic city centre, particularly around the Koestraat itself and the adjacent areas leading to the Grote Markt.

This central district is the heart of the city, characterised by its cobblestone streets, mediaeval architecture, and canals. It's very walkable, with many of the main attractions, shops, and restaurants concentrated within a compact area. Key landmarks like the Belfry of Bruges and the Basilica of the Holy Blood are just a short stroll away.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, staying directly on Koestraat or nearby offers an ideal setting. The area boasts a selection of boutique hotels and guesthouses, many housed in historic buildings, providing an intimate and authentic experience. You'll find plenty of cosy restaurants and cafes for evenings out, and the canal tours depart frequently from nearby jetties, offering a different perspective of the city.

Families will also find the central area convenient, especially properties close to larger squares like the Burg or the Grote Markt. These locations offer easy access to attractions like the Historium Brugge or the Chocolate Story museum, which are popular with children.

The best time to visit Koestraat is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is mild and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the city on foot.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, and there's less chance of rain compared to the summer. This allows you to comfortably enjoy the outdoor cafes and the scenic canals without the larger crowds and higher prices often found in peak summer.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find these periods particularly appealing. The gentle weather is superb for leisurely strolls along the canals, exploring the historic streets, and enjoying al fresco dining. You'll find it easier to secure reservations at popular restaurants and hotels, ensuring a more relaxed and intimate experience.

For solo travellers, the shoulder seasons offer a great balance. You can enjoy the town's attractions, such as the Koestraat's proximity to the Gravensteen Castle and the Patershol district, without feeling overwhelmed by tourist groups.
