The hotel was comfortable and the staff when we checked in were helpful and nice. It was tipping with rain in the morning, so we ask the man on reception to call a taxi. I asked him 5 mins later how long it would be. He said five ten mins. After another 10mins I asked him if he could check on where it was. Turns out he never called for one and got quite argumentative about it. At this point he was being left in charge of the building, but only just being shown how the fire panel worked. Glad I was leaving at that point.

We were amazed at the level of cleanliness in the lodge. All three bathrooms were spotless, and appeared to have been fairly recently upgraded. The beds were probably the comfiest we have ever slept on. The open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area was huge and although the furniture is perhaps a little dated, it was nevertheless very well looked after and in good condition. The kitchen units could perhaps do with being replaced in the next year or two but again have been well looked after, and were very clean; however the oven, microwave and hob have obviously been replaced fairly recently and again were spotless (which is so often not the case in a rental property). There were also 2 allocated parking spaces outside the lodge. Ballater village is a 20 minute walk away, and has a nice mix of cafes and a few shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and would not hesitate to return to Craigendarroch again.

Have stayed at Meldrum house at various times over 30 years and it never disappoints

The property is older and the pictures online do not properly show what the property looks like today. No air conditioning.
