Top Glencorrib Hotel Reviews

The G Hotel and Spa

The G Hotel and Spa

8/10 Good
"Honestly not worth the money. Paying around €250 per night off peak, you’re going in expecting a premium top tier experience. Upon booking we were informed that you have to book an hourly slot for the thermal suite - not great as you’d expect unlimited access from a 5* hotel. The next issue was trying to book this slot lead to no answer on the phone around 5 times and no reply to my direct message nor email. Eventually got one booked over the phone. The spa itself really wasn’t great. Water in the jacuzzi type pool was lukewarm at best. The steam room was out of order and the loungers either weren’t heated or the room was too cold to notice. Check in was from 16:00 - again very much not impressed with this for a 5* hotel. Possibly the worst point overall because it’s so easily addressable. Checkout was early at 11:00 which taking into account only arriving at 16:00, you’d expect 13:00 checkout to make up for it… Overall the place was nice and the room was lovely, but for €250 the service was worse than what you’d get for €100 elsewhere. They’ve done the hard parts well in having a lovely place to stay, but have let themselves down very badly with my above points. I’d stay elsewhere for cheaper and spend the money on activities."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Glencorrib?
The best area to stay in Glencorrib is close to Lough Corrib itself, particularly along the eastern and northern shores, offering a blend of natural beauty and access to activities.

This region is characterised by its expansive lake views, green countryside, and a scattering of small villages and towns. It's an area where the pace of life slows down, allowing for a truly relaxing experience. The roads around the lake are generally quiet, superb for scenic drives or cycling.

For couples looking for a tranquil escape, staying in a lakeside property or a boutique hotel near Ballinrobe or Cong is ideal. These locations provide easy access to boat trips on Lough Corrib, fishing excursions, and walking trails. Cong, in particular, is known for Ashford Castle and its beautiful grounds, offering a touch of historic grandeur and fine dining.

Families often find accommodation closer to Headford or Shrule beneficial. These areas offer more self-catering options and are within a reasonable drive of family-friendly attractions like local farms, equestrian centres, and nature parks.
When is the best time to go to Glencorrib?
The best time to go to Glencorrib is generally during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is most favourable for outdoor activities and exploring the local area.

During June, July, and August, you can expect the warmest temperatures, longer daylight hours, and less rainfall compared to other times of the year. This makes it ideal for enjoying the stunning natural beauty of County Mayo, whether you're planning to visit nearby Lough Corrib, explore the Ashford Castle Estate, or simply take leisurely walks in the countryside. The extended daylight means you have more time to experience everything the region has to offer.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find these months particularly appealing. The pleasant weather allows for scenic drives, boat trips on the lake, and enjoying meals outdoors at local establishments. The longer evenings are great for relaxing and taking in the peaceful surroundings.

Families will also appreciate the summer months. The drier weather makes it easier to engage in activities like cycling, fishing, or visiting local attractions without the worry of frequent rain.
