Nomad Beach Resort

Nomad Beach Resort

10/10 Excellent
"Just checked out after an incredible stay at The Sands at Nomad. Staying right on the property for my dives is a dream—the rooms are beautiful, and going straight from your room to an amazing dive is ultimate convenience. The restaurant has the perfect laid-back beach vibe, serving incredibly fresh seafood and great drinks right on the sand. Excellent service “@Juma” and the absolute best beachfront spot in Diani. Will definitely be back."

Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa

Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa

10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at Pinewood Resort & Spa, which fitted our requirements perfectly in not being too large but offering everything that we were looking for - pool, gym, spa, beach, multiple restaurants. One of our party was a vegetarian and there could have been more choice for her. We had booked on an all inclusive package, which was convenient as none of us are large drinkers, but being limited to house wine and having to pay the full cost for cocktails, rather than a small surcharge, did not seem the best approach, especially as some of those cocktails were cheaper than cocktails on the all inclusive list. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The laundry service is also good value."

"I have stayed several times at this hotel as well as its sister hotel, in Diani. Last time was a few years back and the usual friendly and very helpful staff. This time the internet throughout the hotel compound worked perfectly, so a clear improvement since a the last visit. I can recommend staying here and also close to diving and surfing facilities."

"Staff was the highlight of the stay - super friendly and helpful. Room is dated already, not much amenity (had to ask for hair dryer every time needed to use). Same chain as Boxo so sometimes Boxo guests sneaked in and used the pool which was not very nice. An ok stay, bit less quality than the price paid"

Saffron Villas

8/10 Good
"Environment and room were clean. 2’things to note were the ants which I found slightly invasive. One could spray the floor of the external perimeter of the doors facing the pool and patio area with a pesticide before guests arrive to keep ants out. Also towels shed a lot. So an investment in higher quality towels for the rooms would be great. Outside of these 2 issues the stay was awesome."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Funzi Island?
The best area to stay in Funzi Island is along the main beach on the island's eastern side, offering direct access to the ocean and the island's primary activities. This stretch of coastline is where you'll find most of the island's accommodation options, ranging from boutique hotels to private villas. The area is known for its expansive sandy beaches, clear waters, and views of the mainland. It's also the departure point for dhow safaris and fishing excursions. For couples seeking a peaceful and exclusive getaway, staying in a secluded villa along this beachfront is ideal. Many properties here offer private plunge pools, direct beach access, and personalised service, great for relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty without crowds.Families will also find this area suitable due to the easy access to the beach for swimming and playing.
When is the best time to go to Funzi Island?
The best time to visit Funzi Island is during the dry seasons, which run from July to October and then again from December to March. These months offer consistently sunny weather with very little rainfall, making them ideal for enjoying the island's outdoor activities. The temperatures during these periods are comfortably warm, usually ranging from 25°C to 30°C.Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find these dry periods perfect. You can spend your days unwinding on the beaches, exploring the mangrove channels by dhow, or simply enjoying the peaceful island life without the interruption of rain. The clear skies also make for beautiful sunsets, adding to the romantic appeal. For those interested in fishing or exploring the marine life, these dry seasons provide the best conditions. The calm waters increase visibility for snorkelling and diving, and fishing excursions are more enjoyable and often more successful.
