« The doors operate on a keycode system so it's very much an air bnb set up rather than a staffed pub. There are very few instructions of where to go or what to do. The room was quite dirty - thick gunk in the shower, a pube, hairs on the bedding and a stained bed base. The room was also absolutely freezing after the radiators switched off at 10pm. I woke up at 2am cold and slept in my hat. There were no additional blankets, no electric radiator, loads of condesation and damp on the inside of...

« Hôtel parait simple mais s'est révélé tout à fait confortable. Il offre grand parking. Nous avons disposé de 2 chambres très spacieuses et bien équipées. Le personnel s'est montré très aimable. Le restaurant propose un grand choix de plats qui a permis à chacun de trouver son bonheur. Situation en dehors des zones touristiques. Idéal pour randonneurs. »

The fort at Hardknott was established early in the second century AD: a fragmentary inscription, dating from the reign of the Emperor Hadrian (117–38), from the south gate records the garrison as the Fourth Cohort of Dalmatians, from the Balkans.
