"The upside is: the hotel is in a beautifully restored, historic building centrally located in downtown Grass Valley.. The downside is a lack of amenities. The included breakfast was bare bones - no fruit, no juice, no cereal/oatmeal, no yogurt, just coffee/tea, mini scones & a vegetable fritta that was dry & bland. Since it's an historic hotel, there isn't a workout room, and, not a single tv in the entire hotel - not even in the bar area. Finally, the hotel seemed to be understaffed as many times the front desk was unattended because that person had to cover another areas of the hotel, i.e., servicing the breakfast area, delivering supplies to hotel guests, etc.. The restaurant & bar were well run with customer focused staff."

Unfortunately we ended up with a room with a leaky toilet and it ran with a high pitched squeal every ten minutes or so. closing the pocket door helped a little but this seems like something that could be maintained better. There were also several black hairs on the walls in the shower telling me it must not have been cleaned after the last guest. It was still worth the visit and is a great affordable optio walking distance from downtown NV City."
