"My wife and I cannot begin to express our appreciation for the treatment we received at The Lakes in the past few days. Kevin Piercey, the GM, and Ann went above and beyond to help us in a time of family loss. They accommodated us so that we could check in early on our way to Sydney for a family service and ensured we had everything we needed in one of their beautifully-appointed, spacious chalets. We stayed there two weeks ago for another family matter and they were just as pleasant and welcoming. Having stayed on a number of occasions in the past few years to enjoy the beautifully groomed and scenic golf course (it should be rated in Score Golf's top 100 in Canada) and Founder's Restaurant, it is nice to see consistently high performance adding to one's enjoyment. We would recommend The Lakes to anyone who wants to receive good old Cape Breton hospitality at a resort that offers wonderful golf, skiing, and views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The folks there make it that much more enjoyable. Thank you, Kevin and Ann! "

"This is a great little place to stay if you are going to NFLD. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean. They are doing some renovations so the outside isn't perfect but for the price, it's great. The owner is very friendly and the food is really good, especially the Chinese food."

"Staying while working in sydney- it has absolutely everything we need and the property is beautiful. Cozy and warm in the winter and the deck is so spacious with an awesome view which would make it so great in the summer as well. Winston and Susie made us feel so welcomed and added so many sweet touched. We felt very safe here and our dogs are also very comfortable. Easy drive to the hospital for nurses!! Can’t say enough and will stay again in the future!"
