Lovely, cosy cottage
Billy’s cottage was a haven. Our luggage took 3 days to arrive but the cottage and the docks were wonderful. It’s quite a walk to the centre of Dublin, we sometimes ubered which made it very easy (NB - eirecode is very important as the cottage isn’t easy to find otherwise). But would love to stay again and heartily recommended.

Coast Guard Cottage
The place was authentic, cozy, and warm. Beds were comfortable was a short walk to coffee thru Ringsend park which was beautiful filled with kids playing soccer and hurling! Easy to get around and far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle!! Billy was easy to get intouch with and everything was grand!

Great little cottage just outside city center
Billy's cottage was a great place to stay during a five day trip to Dublin. It was as described and worked well for my friend and I. It is a little off the beaten path (cab drivers had trouble finding it), but a 20 minute walk takes you to the Luas, which is handy for getting around. If you like walking, you can walk right to the city center.

It is very rewarding to get positive feedback. There is also a new bus service, S2, just across the street from the cottage which traverses south Dublin to locations such as Ranelagh and Rathmines. Cafes and restaurants there are better and cheaper than the city centre options. Thank you.

Great little place!
This house is a bit small but charming and just what we needed. We were concerned about the house being off the beaten path but it is convenient to the bus and a short ride to city center. It was a great place for home base as we explored the city and countryside and a comfortable place to come back to at the end of a long day. Plus, a short walk to the Merry Cobbler, our new favorite pub. We would recommend!

Issues we had
Cabbies had hard time finding our accomodations. We sent several emails to Billy about our access and fact that there were three of us and we only had two sets of towels. We had a partial roll of toilet paper for 5 days. When Billy finally called a neighbor of ours to come over with her phone we finally had info on where towels were. Never toilet paper. A neighbor loaned us towels and gave us toilet paper. Billy chewed me out for not answering his calls. We were in airplane mode and not accepting calls. I have only communicated with Billy via email for months prior to our date of arrival. Billy wanted us to have someone at the accomodations for an afternoon during our stay. I told Billy, via email, we had plans for our entire stay and we could not wait around for a repair man. We were having issues with washerdryer and had requested step by step instructions. Never received them. I would not recommend these accomodations. We took pictures on arrival and too photos before we left too.

Lovely Stay
The Cottage had such an authentic Irish charm about it. We loved the location walked to pubs and food store. Short Uber into the town of Dublin which was such a cool place - so much happening, got to tour some pubs, ate some fish n chips got to see beautiful architecture and hear some authentic Irish bands playing on the streets. I can't wait to go back. Billy was a very responsive host.

Dublin Cottage
The cottage was everything I had hoped it would be. It was exactly as advertised. Very clean and well stocked. It was an easy walk to all the essentials. I also got a LEAP bus card at the airport and used it a number of times. The bus stop was right through the park. On most days, however, I just walked all the way into the downtown area. I took a number of tours that the pickup spot was downtown and never had a problem. I am generally a light sleeper, but the sounds of the cargo loading did not bother me at all. I also found it very interesting to watch. I LOVED the fireplace. It was very comforting after a long day out and about (much of them wet!). William called on me midway through my stay to make sure everything was going well. I would highly recommend this cottage for a long or a short stay.

The property is very unique in that it was built in the 1800s and is beautifully outfitted inside. It does have steep stairs up to the bedroom, so I don't recommend it for older people or people with mobility issues. Owner is honest and responsible.

Great stay
This place is exactly as advertised. Well kept property, easy access. The garden was nice with fruit trees. We bought a LEAP pass for trains and buses and property was well located to access them. As noted, a 10 minute walk through the Ringsend park took us to a main busline on Irishtown rd with many options. A 20 min walk to Aviva Stadium got us to the train and an easy trek to Howth. I recommend the TFI Live app which was very helpful. I would not drive in the downtown. The Merry Cobbler was also just through the park and we had an excellent meal. The local tesco express was smallish, but well stocked. When we left for the airport we pre-booked a cab through Lynk. They asked if they could use the tunnel (8euros?) and it took under 15 minutes on an early Monday morning.... wow! It is across the street from a working container ship yard - it was interesting to watch - we left windows open and did not find it disruptive. There is a local rowing club down the street as well and they store boats next door. Thx for the stay.

Memorable and Unique Historic Cottage
A property like no other, tastefully decorated having all one needs for a cozy time. It is clear, the owner Billy appreciates the finer things in life especially literature, antiques and art. Next to the working port of Dublin but quiet and comfortable. A short stroll to Dublin's tech area along the river with ample services and restaurants and a nice longer stroll to stretch one's legs into city center for everything Dublin is famous for. GPS brought us directly to the property without issue and Billy's instructions made it easy to enter and enjoy the property. If you want a stay you won't soon forget, then consider this cottage for a truly unique experience.

Interesting Decor
This is a well equipped lovely property. The furnishing and decor make for a very cozy ambience. We enjoyed the fireplace on a couple of nights. The only negative is that the property is across the street from a massive container port facility. The large cranes work 24/7. The noise they create may be an issue for light sleepers.

Response from VrboOwner on Mar 9, 2023
Thank you for your helpful comments. There are now new double glazed windows, back and front which alleviate the noise from the cranes. They do not operate in the early hours. The working fireplace with an ample supply of smokeless coal, kindling and kiln-dried logs is unique for a city location. I am happy that you enjoyed it.

Lovely rental in quiet neighborhood.
The apartment is as pictured. Very clean and comfortable. It's about two miles from Trinity College which was perfect for us as we do not like to stay in the middle of the touristy parts of town and like to walk. Lots of shopping and restaurants in that direction. Sandymount is a little village about 1 km away in the other direction and very easy to get to. Several great restaurants there--much more quiet than downtown. The bed in the back bedroom is very comfortable, but does squeak a lot when you move around. The operational fireplace was nice and unique in vacation rentals of this sort. We really enjoyed out stay and would definitely stay there again if visiting Dublin.

We loved the accommodations and quiet location. Feels like going back in history with some beautiful paintings and old books. Great Wi-Fi and kitchen amenities. We loved the espresso machine and updated kitchen. We had a car rental but used Uber most of our 3 days. Great neighbors and groceries close by. One bed a little squeaky which may be solved with some bolt tightening. Great host.

Property nice but cleanliness could be improved
Property was fine and covered our needs but was not as clean as I would expect, particularly the bathroom. The instructions for check in and finding property were great and needed! Given that rubbish has to be left in the garden shed was disappointed at the lack of upkeep but eh garden and the very long grass that had to be waded through to each the bins. Some minor maintenance and would be much inproved

Too far out
We thought from the photos that it was near the newly developed area of the docks. It was on the other side of the bridge. The place was clean and was true to the photos. It is located in an industrial area and there are no places to get a coffee, pastry or water. We spent more money on transportation than we were planning to. It was clean and quiet. If you have a car, this would be good.

Response from VrboOwner on Jun 28, 2022
I am surprised that the guests were less than happy about the location. It is clear from the details that the Coastguard Station is on the south side of the river and a short walk to the Financial Services Centre on the north side using the East Link bridge. The south side is comparitively quiet and the cottage is in a secluded cul-de-sac. Most importantly, it is safer. Deke's Diner is a two minute walk away. Tesco Express supermarket, Ringsend village is also a five minute walk through Ringsend Park. The location is not an industrial one, it is in Dublin port and the primary activity is shipping. A Dublin Bus pass affords cheap travel to and within the city. Billy Mundow.

This was a lovely place to stay and so interesting near the port and steeped in history. We loved it. Bear in mind, though, that it is quite a walk to the city centre - it took us about 45 minutes going the shortest route. However, we found plenty of car parks in the centre and the price for day was reasonable. The house itself has been lovingly restored and looked after, with everything you need cooking wise etc. for a comfortable stay. Don’t bother bringing books as there are plenty in the house - good reading for all. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage on the outside of city center
We recently returned from our stay at this cottage in Dublin. The cottage is comfortable and well-appointed. The surrounding area is quite industrial, but a short journey gets you to the Ringsend Park and the lovely community shoreline community of Sandymount. Public transportation into city center is accessible through the park but do note that the gates to the park are locked at night, so the journey back to the cottage is much longer in the evening.
