Palm Lake Cottage: 5-Star Country Comfort

10/10 Excellent

"100% recommend. We loved this cottage. Even though it is downhill from the cottage, the walk to the pond was easy. Fishing was so much fun! Between the two of us, we caught about 20 fish in our 2 days. The area is quiet and peaceful. We had the treat of the hay being mowed and opening up the best visual of evening lightening bugs on display. Neither of us had seen that since we were kids. Our doggie is large, old, and slow. The front steps were easy for her to manage to get outside to potty, but the back steps were almost too much for her. The fenced in back yard has a side gate that we used when she was "investigating" everything. She made herself at home in the hallway bathroom and we were able to fit her ortho bed in there comfortably. The cottage is located with quick and easy access to downtown Clarkesville and other local shops. This was our last trip for a while because the dog just can't handle trips any longer. We're so glad this was the cottage we chose."

"From the moment my granddaughter and I stepped through the front door, we were smitten by the charm and atmosphere inviting us to come in, make ourselves at home, and enjoy our stay, which we certainly did! The rooms were all clean and filled with vintage furnishings and decor. The location is just a short walk to a couple of delicious restaurants, a coffee shop, and the Piedmont University campus. Carmen is such a gracious host. The place just oozes with her touches and care. We immediately felt right at home. The kitchen was bigger than I expected and well-equipped. To our surprise, there was Carmen-made, mouthwatering coffee cake, blueberry bagels, and fresh eggs from Carmen's chickens. There were even doggie treats. My dog was also very welcome and felt right at home. We look forward to returning next summer when my granddaughter attends the theater camp at Piedmont U. again. Tomlin House was and will be a great place for us to stay!"

"A very picturesque location. The owners did a spectacular job renovating the property to make it welcoming to guests. It was a great mix of rustic charm and modern amenities. The hosts are very friendly and very responsive and want to ensure you have a pleasant stay. They also provided history of the house and a recap of all the work they put in to bring it back to life. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something in the area. Or even just outside the area as you're not too far from neighboring towns. The only thing I could find fault is you will encounter some bugs. But as it is the start of summer in North Georgia in a 125 year old house, that's to be expected. Other than that, we had a lovely time and hope we get a chance to return again. Sitting on the second story porch and watching the sunset is worth the stay."

"Worry-free stay! Michelle was excellent with info and communication. I originally booked two nights but added another to turn a group retreat at Piedmont into a longer getaway weekend. The Downtown Studio was pristine, quiet and safe; all the amenities were supplied including super-soft sheets, fluffy towels, strong wi-fi, nice-sized tv, comfy AC, shaded parking on the side, etc. Even though I didn’t use the washer/dryer, I appreciated spotting a laundry pod and dryer sheet.Check out Holden Oversoul (call ahead to get on the waitlist), Farmhouse Coffee and Bangkok Bistro - just steps away. There is also a free museum with American art and a lovely park across the way.The best part of each day was just strolling back to the Studio with everything I needed right there. I hope to return and highly recommend Haven at Hazel!"

"We love all the Haven properties and this was our first stay at this one. It is in a great location for us to visit our daughter who goes to Piedmont. It has everything we need and is very clean and comfortable. We loved the recliner sofa! We would definitely stay here again."

"The Tomlin House is absolutely stunning. Our weekend plans didn’t go as expected due to rainy weather, but because Carmen is such a phenomenal host we were still able to have a relaxing, low key weekend just hanging out at the house. She has literally thought of everything, from coffee & creamers to fresh eggs and pastries (we enjoyed ALL of them). She also provided any extra toiletries that could’ve been forgotten, she really has removed any barriers there could have been.The house is super clean, even my daughter mentioned how her socks were still white even after walking all over! And I absolutely love the style of everything inside, especially the kitchen! Thank you for being an amazing host. We will absolutely be back!"
