It is right in the center of things if you're going to the market or cemetery, although a bit of a walk from where most shuttles drop off I think (tuk-tuks are available, but negotiate before getting in!). The beds were very comfortable, there were plenty of outlets - though no overhead lighting - and they brought a pitcher of purified water for drinking and teeth brushing. The breakfast was also very good. The only disappointments were the expensive bar (which didn't have purified ice) and the sort of threadbare vintage furniture in the room (which could easily be fixed without losing the charm). Great location- steps away from the cemetery, Santo Thomas Church and of course the market. It is a colonial style (older hotel). This hotel is a piece of history in the centre of mayan culture, and it is also a luxury hotel. It's great to see how the wealthy lived in the colonial era. Front desk employees were super helpful and spoke English. The included breakfast was delicious and served in a historical room with a view. We received drink vouchers, but did not know they had to be used on arrival day before 7pm. Room was very large and bed comfy. Bathroom was fine as we had hot water always and good water pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative was the inclusive breakfast. Service was poor (received toast, 5 mins later received the jam, 5 mins later still the butter). Also the breakfast food was average. It's all included so can't complain too much. Only other comment is bar doesn't open to 5pm. It's the only one on town , there was always guests waiting for it to open. Maybe open bar earlier ? This hotel is very low on the frills but makes up for it with rustic features and Hugh-quality service. The hotel is also a museum and a bird sanctuary. Some of the birds talk- trying saying “Hola” to them. Tomas was great. He was our room attendant and waiter. The reception staff was also very welcoming. This hotel was great for exploring the huge Sunday market. We dropped our bags and found ourselves right on the edge of the market. The food in the restaurant was a little cold- we had the soup and pasta.
