Isolated however easily accessible via boat to the main land. There are a lot of amenities such as kayaking, paddle boating, hiking and a spa. It’s an amazing getaway, removed from all the excitement and noisiness on the mainland of Flores. The staff is amazing - so attentive and they made themselves easily accessible to answer any questions and fulfill any requests. They organized my trip to Tikal with transportation, a guide and food. They also organized a breakfast box for me for 2 days in a row due to having to leave early and miss the sit down breakfast. The restaurant had some tasty options for dinner. Managers Javier & Israel made sure I had everything I needed and are very professional & solicitous. Staff personnel including Osman, Kendal, Allen & Wilmer are most gracious with their hospitality. The meals here, especially breakfast, are terrific with fruit and sides generally locally sourced. A wonderful place to escape from the a hectic world, or a long day at Tikal. Be sure to try the kayaks and the newly added little paddle boat - great fun ! Then, take a dip in the wonderful pool. I intend on returning again for another relaxing stay. Without even setting foot on this beautiful property. We showed up before our check-in to leave our extra luggage and they attend us regardless. We took off to visit Tikal. In the mean time they took our luggage and placed it in the room for us. Even turned on the AC for us. The restaurant has great food. A mixture of some local dishes and other more western favorites. Peten is a little off the beaten path for me when I visit Guate. We booked five nights here, making it the “luxurious” chapter of our babymoon. Here are some things I wish I knew about this place: 1\. the only way to access it is a twenty minute boat ride from the island of Flores. 2\. The “collective” boats from the hotel are at 5 am, 7 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, and 10 pm. That means whenever you want to go into town for a tour, a stroll, anything at all, you either need to go at one of these times, or pay $25 USD PER PERSON to get outside of the hotel. 3\. This boat situation would be acceptable if there was a lot to do at the hotel. Unfortunately, it feels like an abandoned hotel. We were there five nights and it was no where near capacity. Sometimes we were the only people there. 4\. The food was very disappointing. Pasta is the only option for a vegetarian main course. The menu for lunch/dinner is more expensive than a New York City dinner (but less than half as tasty). 5\. Not a free breakfast. You get one small plate from the menu, one watered down coffee, and if you want something more you will have to pay a lot. Also, your order will take an hour to come and not once did our order come correctly. 6\. Check the final bill. They added $250 USD for a tour we didn’t take. 7\. All of the rooms are a long walk uphill from the main area and it can take a while for a golf cart to become available.
