(2,154 reviews) The Francis Marion is a lovely old nostalgic hotel. The location is fantastic. I would suggest upgrading to a bigger room. The rooms seem to be a worn. I think back in the day it was probably a very luxurious hotel. I think the bathrooms could be updated. I think most of the Queen bed rooms were cut in half to make way for more rooms. However the lobby , restaurant , Spa and Exercise room are nice considering the hotel is older. I think with a little bit more renovations it would be the bell of the ball because of it's great location. I woul definitely stay there again. We were on a girls' trip (4 girls in their early 40's from all over the US) and we would stay back here in a heartbeat if returning to Charleston in the future. The hotel has such a welcoming atmosphere - it's stylish, modern, clean and the staff are wonderful! Not to mention the on site coffee shop and restaurant are both incredible and food and Bev quality were outstanding! We went on a girls' trip for the weekend and were looking for place for 4 of us to be together. The two-king suite was the most perfect set-up with two private bedrooms and a shared bathroom - couldn't ask for more! And it was cheaper than getting two separate rooms anywhere else.
