9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,141 reviews)
We went to Bristol Hippodrome in the evening so it’s great, walked just around the corner.
One member of staff as we approached the desk said she was on a shift change and someone would be out straightaway! Didn’t happen so we ended up queuing all over again to see someone else.
At 10:20pm, we returned from theatre to hotel and we could not have a coffee as machine was finished!!! All lights were still on and I’m sure had we been in their Miller & Carter restaurant we would have had one! Poor service for such a grand hotel. Barman was unapologetic.
Rooms are quiet except for the usual thoughtless people slamming the bedroom door.
Breakfast, no teaspoons with cup & saucers, tables weren’t cleared either all dishes on your table whilst you negotiated a space or empty tables left with dirty dishes on.
We would stay again for convenience and car parking but maybe skip breakfast.

8.2/10 Very Good! (1,007 reviews)
I stayed for one night and overall found the experience average, falling short of the 4-star Hilton standard I expected.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the hotel was generally clean. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The spa and pool facilities were a nice addition, with well-kept changing rooms.
That said, there were several drawbacks. The hotel is showing its age, taps, units and fittings were stained, damaged, or not cleaned. Getting to the rooms was awkward, requiring you to go up a floor and then back down again, which felt odd/poor layout. The pool itself needs renovating, as tiles and walls are worn, and it felt overcrowded with members lane swimming alongside public swimming; a rotation system might make it more enjoyable for hotel guests.
Noise was another issue. I could hear guests from nearby rooms, and even with windows closed, shouting children from a wedding party at 10:30pm were disruptive. The bed wasn’t comfortable, noisy and uncomfortable pillows, which sadly left both me and my partner with sore backs by morning.
Check-in was also poor, more like an all-inclusive resort queue, with about 10 people waiting and no real welcome or information about hotel bars, evening food, or family-friendly options.
Overall, while the breakfast, rooms to a good decor standard and staff were great, the noise levels, tired facilities, and uncomfortable sleep meant the stay did not justify the price.
