"The room was clean and warm, clean comfortable bed and with plenty of hot water in the shower. My only quibble would be that after my stay I had the whole day to spend in Scarborough and would have really appreciated a safe luggage room at the hotel. It meant I had to cart my overnight bag around with me which rather hampered my movement. On the other hand, the view from the terrace is spectacular and the hotel is slap bang next to the Tramway cars down to beach level. Which was nice."

"Really good accommodation if you’re looking for a couple of nights in Scarborough. Some parking at the hotel for £6 per night but on street parking in the immediate vicinity for £5 for 48 hours (pay at hotel - absolute bargain). Very good breakfast in a nice restaurant directly overlooking North Bay. If you book a sea view room, that really is what you’ll get. Very happy to recommend. For the price out of season, it’s excellent"

"Staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Wendy and Andy and the ladies who served and cleaned. I stayed seven nights and felt like I was coming home each evening. The room with pullout couch for my sister was roomy and we had lots of space to spread out. The cooked breakfast included in the price was amazing and I really appreciated the vegetarian menu with several choices of dishes. The location was perfect within walking distance of the train station. I would definitely recommend the Union Inn and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again."

"Yes, these rooms are above a pub but you can’t hear any noise. The appointments were like that of a luxury hotel. The staff worked behind the bar at the pub for the most part and they were extremely responsive to any request. Not sure many tourists find their way to this particular town, but if you’re anywhere near Scarborough, this is the place to stay."

"We found The Talbot a very nice hotel. The only thing we didn’t like was that they added a 10% service charge onto our evening meal bill. The receipt said that this additional charge goes directly to the waitress and if you didn’t want to pay it you could ask for it to be removed. Any tip should be at the customer’s discretion. How embarrassing would it be to ask for them to remove it!! The hotel should make sure it’s staff are paid well so they don’t have to rely on customers’ tips. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay with the hotel being in a very good location for visiting Malton and surrounding areas."
