Such great value - thoroughly enjoyable stay
"Myself and a friend had a wonderful one night stay as a stopover coming back to Yorkshire from Edinburgh. Beautiful surroundings (great views from our window) with extremely comfortable beds in the room (firm but soft - which is my preference). I enjoyed a pre breakfast swim in the pool and the lovely countryside views from the jacuzzi. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choices - we definitely didn't need lunch. All the staff encountered throughout our stay were attentive and friendly. The tiniest thing that stood out was that some of the edges of furniture in the room/bathroom were looking a little tired and the skirting board under the window would benefit from a paint touch up. Also the lights were all linked so you couldn't isolate each beds bedside light - but these things really were minor - and as I say they stood out because everything else was excellent. I felt the whole thing was extremely good value topped off by the fact there were Yorkshire teabags in the room!"

"Everybody helpful and friendly. We had a dog with us, and that was not a problem to anyone nice bar to eat in with him.
Lovely grounds and view so easy to take dog out for a little walk.
Hotel, particularly good for walkers as they were happy to dry their boots in front of the fire overnight for them. Highly recommend it."
"Beautiful building and wonderfully friendly and efficient staff, but, for this kind of money, I would expect air conditioning in the rooms. I appreciate that the weather was unseasonably warm, but it was like an oven in my room and, although there was a little fan supplied, it really made no difference. I would imagine that adding air-conditioning would be difficult in such an old building, but to justify the price and the rating, I feel it is necessary and, if our summer's get hotter (as seems inevitable), this problem is going to be a regular occurrence."
