The property was okay, in a good location but our room was not ready on time. We had to wait an hour after the check in time for our room to be ready. After driving all day, with a young child and a dog it was really inconvenient to not be able to to check in on time. We would have appreciated a call in advance if they were not able to honour the check in time so we could have left our previous place later. We understand they were short-staffed and that there are added protocols due to COVID, but it would have been nice to get a call saying the room wouldn't be ready on time. It was really inconvenient for us and put a damper on the start of our trip. We were not offered any compensation or even a sincere apology. They had a young girl at the counter, who was very nice, and did let us use the staff washroom while we waited, however she didn't seem to have the experience needed to handle our complaints. We felt like they should have had a manager available, particularly because we were told there were other guests that didn't have their rooms ready on time and had been upset as well.
The room itself was fine. It was clean, although there was some black marks on the grout in the bathroom that looked as though it might be mold. It was quiet, and in a good location to get downtown quickly while driving. Not exactly walking distance, unless you're good with steep hills. We wouldn't stay again given the price was high for what we got and the lack of customer service.
