Prenez le C-Train au centre-ville pour vous rendre au zoo situé sur l'île StGeorge et les rives de la rivière Bow. Vous y trouverez toutes sortes d'animaux, petits et grands, et même préhistoriques! Si vous visitez le zoo le dimanche, jumelez votre visite avec un brunch safari dans la zone africaine. Commencez votre exploration par le Penguin Plunge, dans la zone froide de l'Antarctique. Découvrez quatre types de manchot: le manchot de Humboldt, le manchot papou, le gorfou sauteur et le manchot royal. Sur cette rive, vous trouverez également un parc de dinosaures dans lequel vous pourrez vous approcher de répliques de dizaines d'espèces de dinosaures tapis dans les feuillages préhistoriques. Puis, dans l'habitat canadien, vous ferez la rencontre des espèces locales d'ours, d'orignal, de bison, de puma, de loutre, de marmotte ainsi que de nombreuses autres créatures difficiles à repérer à l'état sauvage. Prenez la passerelle jusqu'à l'île StGeorge, où vous attendent des animaux d'Eurasie, d'Amérique du Sud et d'Afrique. Tentez d'apercevoir les potamochères dans la savane africaine, ils sont souvent accompagnés de leurs adorables petits. Le zoo de Calgary est également réputé pour ses programmes d'élevage de gorilles. Ne manquez pas les tigres de Sibérie dans l'habitat eurasien. Vous y verrez aussi des léopards des neiges, des macaques japonais et des pandas rouges. Dans l'habitat sud-américain, ce sont les marmousets et autres singes qui volent la vedette. Lorsque vous passerez d'un habitat à l'autre, soyez attentif aux changements de la flore. Le jardin botanique est l'un des aspects les plus frappants du zoo. Les jardins Dorothy Harvie offrent presque 2,4ha de plantes indigènes. La serre abrite de nombreuses espèces d'oiseaux et d'invertébrés et est divisée en quatre sections: le jardin tropical, le jardin aride, la forêt tropicale et le jardin aux papillons. Le zoo de Calgary est situé dans Bridgeland, à quelques minutes de route à l'est du centre-ville. Il y a deux parcs de stationnement payant à la journée.
