Unexpected upgrade at check in. Was much appreciated!

Great location and very nice lobby and bar area. The rooms are spacious and very clean.

Very clean small boutique hotel close walking distance to many restaurants. It was also walkable to Embassy Row, and the National Cathedral where we had a memorial service for a family member. The White House was a 1.5 mile easy walk where we could catch a hop on hop off bus. Staff very responsive. Continental breakfast had many items including a pancake maker, bagels, English muffins and breads, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, cereal. We will stay here again if we return to DC.

We stayed at a corner king suit. The room was clean, quiet, and spacious. However, the hotel is more like an apartment hotel which is outdated, old and dark. Also, compared with numerous hotels we have stayed at, majority of the staff were unhelpful. We asked for extra blanket and they couldn’t provide it to us as there was no room service at night! We had breakfast included in our room. The first day we missed breakfast as we got there at 10:30 am. So we sat there and asked for cappuccino only. We received to go cups with $11 bill!! We thought a hotel would have provided that in proper cups and perhaps at no charge.

Hotel Heron is ideally located in the middle of Old Town Alexandria. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Kiln onsite restaurant was very good. We did have a couple issues with the room attendant who forgot to replace our wash cloths and made the bed with two top sheets instead of using a bottom fitted sheet. The sheet you laid was not tucked in so it slid around and got bundled up during the night. Annoying. Hotel’s valet parking is expensive so we used the Courthouse Garage around the corner.
