Location is excellent for Clifton and the hotel is what is says it is. We stayed in a dog-friendly garden room for 1 night. Previously we have stayed several times in the 5* Hotel du Vin Avon Gorge hotel so we can compare the two hotels. Victoria Square is a 3 star hotel and of course is not as well-appointed as Avon Gorge but for the price (being £200 per night cheaper on the Saturday we stayed), in our opinion the Victoria Square is a good option. The receptionist was helpful, the room was clean, and the hotel was peaceful. The bed and the room are more basic than in the Avon Gorge but we had a very comfortable night and spent the difference on a nice dinner with family. Next time we visit Bristol we will choose the Victoria Square - I think that tells the story.

The hotel consists of two nice, old/character properties which are well-positioned for Clifton. They are well-maintained and clean. It's good that the property has it's own car park within the grounds for around a dozen cars, although I'm not sure why they would charge guests £9 per night to use it. The staff at breakfast were super and couldn't do enough, and the breakfast itself was good quality / choices. Our Check-in was a mixed experience, as they allocated us a room right at the top of the property (no lift!), which it turned out was an inferior room to the one we had booked. When we came back down to point this out, they did ultimately let us have the 'only room left', which was the Large Double Room we had reserved. Thought it a bit odd that they'd allocated the wrong room and then suddenly 'found' a room in an otherwise full hotel!

Excellent location for Clifton village with bus stop right outside the hotel making easy access to Bristol town centre/station. Spacious room, spotlessly clean though main building is a little tired around the edges. Friendly approachable staff. Breakfast was good, but some of the buffet options did run out. Great value for money and happy to recommend.

Stayed overnight to attend a wedding, and location was wonderful. Bed was comfortable and showerroom very good. We were able to park easily as there were few cars parked, but carpark filled rapidly and cars were having to leave without parking. Our room was on the lower ground floor overlooking carpark which was gravelled, so it was very noisy and we had to draw the curtains for privacy, particularly when 2 vehicles decided to park right up against our bedroom window, not great. We didn't buy the breakfast option. Would recommend this hotel though, whilst flagging the carparking/room issues.

Ok clean and location was good . I stayed in a ground floor room facing the gravelled car park . The heat wave meant I needed to open the windows. Cars parked right outside my window was not great sadly. Very hot conditions. Couldn’t open curtains in the morning to get dressed due to lack of privacy . People leaving and arriving in the car park.
