We were very disappointed with the Regency Clifton Oyo. I didn't want to leave a negative review, but the hotel responded poorly through Expedia's customer service, so here we are. TL;DR: dirty room when we arrived, then improperly cleaned. Room also in disrepair, but I had to get my young children to bed. My complaint was disregarded. Full story: my two daughters (aged 4 and 6) and I arrived at 7pm (having completed virtual check in) and found the room hadn't been cleaned. Bedding and towels everywhere, food on the beds. We went downstairs and spoke to the front desk. He said "give me twenty minutes" and then took nearly an hour to clean the room. When he was finished, I had to get my exhausted children to bed as fast as possible. Thankfully the bedding was clean. But the rest of the room was a disgrace. Stained carpet with wrappers, dried ramen, crumbs and random plastic on the floor. The radiator was broken, so we had an antique, chipped heater. The towels were stained and the shower was hairy. The towel rail was missing, the bathroom door had been badly fixed, the toilet seat didn't fit. The blind was broken. The spare toilet rolls were stained. A mirror wasn't on the wall. The place was a disgrace. I didn't have any other option. It was gone 8pm. We made a swift exit the following morning. After our stay I lodged a complaint through Expedia with photos. We were told it wasn't hotel policy to offer refunds or apologies. Don't stay in this hotel. I was just looking for a bed for a couple of nights and this place delivered on that. I slept well and had access to the basic facilities I needed. Also I got it at short notice whilst on the train so that worked well. However... After booking I was asked to complete online registration to get codes for the front door and the room. I did that and was sent an email and WhatsApp message confirming the codes. I also got a text asking me to book direct with Oyo instead. On arrival the front door code worked and the person at the desk asked if I had a code for the room which I confirmed. After climbing all to the top of the building I discovered that the code didn't work and had to return to the desk to get help. That involved the desk person coming to reset. The room is basic, no curtain or blind in the window so that's a privacy issue. Carpet was stained, bath was stained, cups were different sizes. So coming here depends what you are looking for. Luxury stay, no. The room was dirty, (have lots of pictures) even a dirty towel down the side of the bed, didn’t want to touch it. The windows were broken so could close to keep the noise out. It said would be toiletries so didn’t bring any, only shampoo left so couldn’t shower, but that was also because the blind was broken so couldn’t close it. Water noise in the bathroom all the time so with that and the noise in the room didn’t sleep. Paint falling off nearly all the walls, dirty walls and carpet. Will have to share on trip advisor and social media and watchdog, as it was awful. The price was nearly £168 pounds for one night, after seeing the room and crying tried to get another room but to pricey., as prices where up due to the rugby, only £60 the next day. The best part about this hotel is the location. Very central and lots of amenities and shops around. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Considering the price paid (£136 for a Saturday) I would expect much, much better. There was damp coming down from one corner of the room. There were multiple hairs on the toilet seat. The carpet was covered in stains and hadn't been treated in what looked like years. Bizarrely, there was an unopened pack of instant noodles in one of the desk drawers. Who knows how long they had been there. It made me wonder what else hadn't been seen to and cleaned before my arrival.
