Black River Vacation Packages

Only stayed for one night as we were travelling around the island. It was exactly as described and as I expected. Convenient location to the airport, blue bay and Mahebourg. Ideally you would need a car to get out of the resort and explore. Hotel has everything you need though. Big shopping centre 5 min drive away.

Not what i would expect from a 4* hotel and could benefit from a deep clean. The Cinnamone buffet menu not to my liking as i like to cook from fresh and some dishes too salty and all meats and fish cooked in a 'sauce' of some description. There is a bbq hotplate and usually two protein items available in the evening can be cooked fresh if you prefer. You have to book the a-la-carte Pomelo resteraunt which has covers for 40-50 persons and only open in the evenings. All staff friendly and helpful. We hired a car for the week to explore different parts of the island and personally found the south eastern side traditionally more like a tropical island. One tip, if you do venture away from the resort take your own toilet roll because if you ever need to visit public toilets all you will have is a tap or jet of water for use in the cubicle...... The island is being spoilt with flytipping, litter and plastic pollution and i wouldnt like to think what sea pollution the coral reef is keeping back from landing on the beaches.

We found the room and view very nice. Food was sadly of very low quality which we wouldnt have minded if the price reflected this however being charged £30 (1,800 rupees) per person for the evening buffet excluding drinks (as we were not on a food package) was not acceptable. Especially as there was no price on the menu and we wernt told the price before seating. This was the most expensive meal during our 2 weeks in mauritus. However staff were friendly and the free island shuttle was a nice perk.
