The Cove House - Peace & Quiet in Maine

*** Ask me about long term Winter rental rates! ***

Unwind, let the ebb and flow of Maine’s tide reset your routine. Welcome to our place. Take in the daily display of wildlife at this stunning tidal cove and enjoy our cabin with 200ft of private saltwater frontage. Relax, swim, kayak, boat, fish, clam, explore nature, all from the shores of this waterfront retreat with private dock. During low tide - when other coves drain empty and expose their claybeds - ‘Whistlers Cove’ gently cascades over the dam but never fully empties, leaving a pool of saltwater to enjoy! Relax in our slice of paradise.

Launch our kayaks from the cabin and explore the many coves, stopping off at Hamilton Audubon trails for a nature walk, or a tiny island to sunbathe before the tide covers it up again. Need a chill "do-nothing" day instead? Simply stay on site, kick back at the cozy cabin and watch the wildlife, waterfowl, and various big birds fish the waters. Escape to this picturesque setting complete with the creature comforts of home.

Take a leisurely drive and get to many close points of interest: historic City of Bath and Maine Maritime Museum only 10 minutes away, Thomas Point Beach 15 minutes, downtown Brunswick 20 minutes, the famous Popham Beach & Fort only 25 minutes, and of course LL Bean in Freeport only 28 minutes away. The nearest medical center is Midcoast Hospital, only 15 minutes door-to-door.

If it's a buzzing scene you're after: check out the cafes, bakeries, restaurants, microbrews, food trucks, shops, galleries, museums, events, etc, all within many surrounding towns, just minutes away. Whether you venture out or spend all your time on site… Whistlers Cove welcomes you.

PLEASE CONSIDER BEFORE YOU BOOK:
Whistlers Cove is a private residential area and we make every effort to respect our community and surrounding environment. Please note the following hard rules, as these will be enforced:

- Absolutely no fireworks. They will spook our neighbour’s horses and disrupt the wildlife.
- No pets allowed.
- No parties or large events.
- No smoking in or around the property.
- No candles or other open flames, other than the designated firepit area.
- Drive slowly (15mph) on the private road leading to our property, being mindful of horses, deer, foxes, and other wildlife.

Exceptions cannot be made to the above rules. If we haven’t made it clear by this point please know: this is our family’s beloved vacation home - please treat it and the natural surroundings with kindness and respect. Keep your footprint gentle here. Thank you for your understanding, it means a lot to us!!

Very clean and peaceful
We all really enjoyed our stay at this property. We had 4 adults and 4 teenage kids in our group. The kids all shared 1 bedroom, but there was plenty of room for all of them to sleep with the bunk bed and additional pull out. One small issue we encountered was the bathroom situation. The full bathroom is inside the main bedroom making it difficult for everyone to use if you are sharing the house with other adults. The 2nd bathroom has a very small standup shower that works great, but is very hard to maneuver in. We enjoyed the kayaks, fishing (although nothing was biting), and the fire pit. The area around the house is very peaceful and relaxing. One small issue we encountered was the bathroom situation. We highly recommend ordering cooked lobsters from Crabby Lobster Shack in Phippsburg and making lobster rolls! The kitchen is well stocked and we ended up using the grill a couple of times. During our stay we visited Popham Beach which was a great beach, Pemaquid Lighthouse, Boothbay Harbor, and Bath. Bath is a nice quaint town with shops and restaurants. We ate at the Kennebec Tavern which was very good! Craig was very responsive and easy to communicate with!

Peaceful, beautiful home minutes from Bath
Having stayed in the area in the past we were so happy to find this home. It was about ten minutes to downtown Bath (restaurants, cafes, bookstores) and yet it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The kayaks were so fun for our kids and us, the dock was new and amazing… having water access at low AND high tide is rare. The wildlife was super fun to watch (we even watched a bald eagle hanging out right in front of the house!). Inside, the beds were comfy, everything was extremely clean and organized and Wi-Fi was great. There were loads of games and even a train set for our train obsessed toddler. We had a wonderful week at this cabin and found it to be the best option we’ve found in the area for a family with small kids.

Wonderful private getaway with the comforts of home!
Our family visited this property in the beginning of August. The home was very clean and well stocked with the comforts of home. The little things count like coffee filters :) and baking dishes and pans to cook with. Every room had AC/heating. The beds were comfortable and the towels were soft! Games were available too. We always look for a washer/dryer when we rent and this home did not disappoint AND laundry soap was also available. We really liked that we didn’t run out of TP or paper towels. Lol! The water way was fun! Watching the tide come in and out was amazing at this location as it changes right in front of camp. There is even a tide clock to help you track it. Kayaking was a blast! Lots of space to explore. This location was quiet abs peaceful yet we could explore ear by beaches or go shopping. Oh…..we can’t forget to mention the ice cream shop 5 minutes away. It’s a must try!!

Esape to the cove
The cove house was amazing! We had a great family escape. The kids enjoyed jumping in the cove, watching the tide, and fishing from the dock. The location is perfect offering privacy but also a short drive to town! Craig was easy to chat with if we needed anything! We would definitely stay again!

"A balm for the soul"
The Cove House is amazing! If there was ever a place I wanted to squat and take over, this would be it. ;-) (Just kidding! Mostly.) The description and pictures don't do this wonderful place justice; everything was described perfectly accurately, but the words can't capture the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. The house is immaculately clean and well-stocked. Self-check-in was effortless, and the house had a great "manual." We were able to cook several fairly complex meals with ease, including on the outdoor grill. We were there during a fairly hot week, and the place is remarkably cool - we didn't need to run the AC often at all. Beds we super comfy, showers had great temperature and pressure, and there was great wifi for when we had to work (boo working on vacation!). We took advantage of the kayaks for a relaxing paddle in the cove, but mostly enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the waterfowl (eagles! herons! loons! and more) and enjoying the ebb and flow of the tide. The location is convenient to so much of what coastal Maine offers. Day trips into Bath and Camden Harbor were easy and fun, and there's everything you need shopping-wise within a short drive. But, we didn't feel the need to leave the house often - enjoying this marvelous space was, as someone in our party put it, "a balm for the soul." Communication with the owner was proactive and easy - we didn't need a thing while we were there, but I'm confident they'd respond quickly if anything arose.

Ideal stay in Coastal Maine
We absolutely loved our stay at Craig's West Bath property and would stay here again without a question. The house itself is comfortable and sufficiently roomy (for 4 adults and 3 young children, ages 6, 6 and 3), and well stocked/appointed (kitchen utensils/needs, games, acoustic guitar, bath and beach towels). The outside space is ideal - a large deck overlooking the water, fire pit with adirondack chairs, and of course the kayaks and water access (especially when the tide is in, but even when the tide is out). The house is secluded - we didn't see any people during our stay (though we did see multiple eagles and heron!) - but with quick/easy access to Bath and locations beyond (Brunswick, Freeport, Portland, etc.). Craig was responsive and communication was quick and easy.

Beautiful Property on the Water
My husband and I just stayed here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. The host Craig was very responsive and had unbelievable hospitality. He even left champagne and chocolate truffles for us, along with a sweet card to celebrate our honeymoon. The house itself is very clean and comfortable. There are smart TV's in every bedroom and the living room. The beds and all of the furniture were very clean and very comfortable. Each room had beautiful views of the water and the trees. While there were neighbors, the property was very private and serene. All of the appliances worked well and the entire place felt very clean and new while still being cozy. There was even spices and coffee in the kitchen already there so we didn't need to go out and buy any. There are close by grocery stores and even a cute little ice cream shop less than a ten minute drive away. We had so much fun on the water fishing and kayaking and exploring the river. My husband and I travel to Maine every year and this was the best host we have had yet. I cannot recommend this property enough!

Great house!
We enjoyed this house and our time there. The kayaking was terrific and the house was stocked with everything we needed. We loved that the property felt private but we were close enough to town and restaurants. We would highly recommend!
