"The property was slightly dated but well maintained. The staff was friendly and accommodating except for one which I'll discuss later. The location wasn't perfect. It is closer to edge of town than the center, but still walkable. The rooms (we had two) were clean and surprisingly spacious. Ours had a sink inside the bathroom and another outside which made getting ready much easier. There is a bear problem (like in all of Gatlinburg). An adolescent bear was roaming at will rummaging thru the trash cans on all floors. I know its part of the local charm and tourists love it, but if they don't take a proactive stance they may be exposing themselves to liability if something unfortunate happens. Perhaps purchasing bearproof trashcans to deter this behavior. On to our one unfortunate incounter. To start, we had booked our room for 3 days, Monday thru Wednesday and an adjoining room for our granddaughters for Tuesday. When they arrived @10AM we went to ask the person at the front desk if we could be notified when the room was ready. We were told that check-in was 4pm with no exceptions. While we were waiting at the pool for the appointed hour we noticed that people started checking in at 2 oclock. When I went to the desk and asked for the room keys they were given to me with no explanation or apology. A misunderstanding? Language barrier or, personal power- trip, I honestly don't know. But it left a mar on our experience but won't stop us from staying there again."
