Directly on Tunk Lake, It is the beauty of the setting that is most captivating. Year after year families choose Lincoln Cabin because it is such a quiet spot, where you can really unplug and unwind. We are not known for great cell reception or motorized water sports (motorized boats are prohibited) or our close proximity to shopping and lots of people**** we are 45-60 minutes from Bar Harbor. We are known for being one of the last quiet gems- on a pristine lake in Maine, where you can listen to nature and truly relax.
Guests have two full, bathrooms, a fresh and modern kitchen, and great dining room furniture! Our kitchen is outfitted with new appliances, beautiful dinnerware and cutlery. Our living area is spacious with a vaulted ceiling which opens on to a deck overlooking Tunk Lake. The cabin is at the end of a private road leading down to a small beach with a dock jutting onto the lake and a swim float. The cabin comes supplied with a canoe and two kayaks. There are many hiking trails nearby, up Schoodic Mountain and also Black Mountain, where you can climb to a pristine glacier pond, aptly named Wizard Pond. Winter Harbor is about 20 minutes away where there is a ferry to Bar Harbor, and a section of Acadia National Park, or you can make the 45-60 minute drive to Bar Harbor. We have a great little store in Sullivan named Dunbar's, you must check it out or a 30 minute drive takes you to Ellsworth, where there are some wonderful food stores ( John Edwards, Rooster Brother, Hannaford) to name a few!
****Our dock and swim float is pulled up by October 1st

This was our first trip to Acadia and we wanted a place that was quiet and secluded. The lake beautiful and great to swim in. The home had everything we needed
The property is right on the water. Swimming, kayaking and trails galore. We came to celebrate fall and the foliage was beautiful. There were plenty of small towns nearby for shopping and souvenir hunting. On the last day, we went whale watching. The cabin is beautiful and very well maintained. The grounds pristine.
We enjoyed this stay more than we expected and we had high expectations going into this. There’s something about nature and how it brings a family closer together. Thank you for tucking this little gem away for safe keeping. It is our hopes to return again next year. Thanks for everything!!!
The Lincoln Cabin is the perfect place to retreat to when you are looking for peace and the beauty of nature. The lake welcomed us each morning for long swims and the sound of loons was the only thing we heard. It’s is a gem of a hideaway and a perfect place to recharge and spend time with family. The cabin has all the amenities you could want and we can’t wait to return another summer. We loved using the kayak and canoe and ending the day gathering around the fire pit. Thank you to our gracious host!
Our family was long overdue for a truly relaxing vacation and this place did not disappoint!! Some of my family likes to truly do nothing on vacation - so sitting on the back porch just taking in the peacefulness of the lake was ideal. Others enjoy being active, so being able to drop the kayaks in the lake and explore was wonderful. My younger kids really enjoyed hanging out on the dock and catching fish in a net. We rented this place to spend time in Acadia National Park, but this house and lake were so awesome we only spent a day in Acadia. There are plenty of things to do within an hour drive, but we were so content at this lake house, it didn't matter. My only regret was not renting it for longer - I was absolutely not ready to go when it was time!
This is the best property we have stayed at. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, that is incredibly clean, is full of amenities for the lake and 💯 accurate…this is your place. Shasta was an amazing and thorough communicator every step of the way - even after we arrived just to reach out and make sure everything was okay. The photos are an exact match for where you will be staying and I’ve stayed at a lot
‘clean’ places but her property truly is. The lake was so much fun and the kids (20, 19, 14 and 12) all had fun. We felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. It was easy to get to Bar Harbor (fun but crowded) and we actually preferred Schoodic, Corea and the smaller towns around us. I can’t say enough good things. So if you’re thinking about it - do it. You won’t be disappointed!
Our recent stay was an exceptional experience. My husband and I live in a hectic area just outside of New York City, and we were in desperate need of a peaceful escape from the daily hustle and bustle. This cabin provided us with the serenity we craved, and more.
First and foremost, the view and the grounds surrounding the cabin were breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque setting to unwind. The natural beauty of the area, combined with the cozy cabin, created a perfect retreat.
The cabin itself was well-equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was meticulously clean and well-maintained, making us feel right at home. We truly appreciated the attention to detail in ensuring that the cabin was in top-notch condition for our stay.
Shasta was incredibly responsive and helpful with any questions we had. Her assistance made our stay even more enjoyable, and we felt well taken care of throughout our time at the cabin.
One highlight of our stay was how it affected our two dogs. Typically, they are quite active and prone to barking at various noises. However, in this tranquil environment, they seemed to find their own peace. It was almost like a vacation for them as well, as they didn't have much to bark about, which is quite rare for our furry friends.
In summary, this was was exactly what we needed. The serenity, the well-appointed cabin, the stunning views, and the exceptional grounds all combined to create a truly memorable getaway.
Everything about our stay was first class. The cabin was exceptionally clean, stylishly furnished, and super equipped with everything needed to relax and enjoy yourself at a lake, including kayaks, floating docks, fire pit, plus all the essentials (bedroom, kitchen and bathroom provisions, etc). The lake is a gem - big, scenic, idyllic, private, safe, with no motorboats allowed. It was the nicest lake cabin we've ever rented, perfect for a family getaway.
Location-wise, the property is 10-15 minutes off the beaten path, similarly to everything in that area of Maine. This was an attraction for us. The property is 35-45 minutes away from Acadia National Park, depending on which side you choose to visit (the Schoodic Penisula side is closer and less crowded than the Bar Harbor side, so we went there twice). It was no big deal to drive to the Park, and along the way there are 5-10 lobster shacks for lunch or dinner. We flew in/out of Bangor, which was only an hour and 15 minutes away. Easy.
Host communication - Shasta was the best ever. Got in touch as soon as I made the booking, send an overview of the property (which was entirely accurate), plus a list of cool things in the area. She checked in before we arrived and when we got there, and was very pleasant and communicative the whole time. The best VRBO experience yet.
I'd give the property 10 stars if I could. Everything about it was perfect (and I am typically critical!). High recommend it to anyone.
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. Tunk lake is beautiful and very secluded. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed for a family of 4. Highly recommend hiking Black mountain for amazing views of the lake and Acadia.
What a wonderful stay! The location was perfect for us. It was so quiet and secluded with plenty of outdoor activities to keep our family busy. It was also close enough to activities like hiking and shopping if that was what you wanted to do instead. Kitchen was well supplied and we had plenty of space for our family of 8.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin! Everything was super clean, and we had everything we needed for an easy, comfortable, and fun stay. The location on Tunk Lake is gorgeous and very private, while also being close to Acadia, Schoodic Point, etc. Can’t wait to come back!
This cabin hit everything that we wanted! Quiet, secluded, private, and waterfront. It was definitely clean and well kept. Being able to enjoy family time outside and listen to nature under the stars was perfect! If we ever come back to Maine, which I’m sure we will, this will be the cabin that we choose to stay at!
We had a lovely stay in a beautiful property. The location was perfect to enjoy sunrises by the lake and end the day with a cosy fire. Shasta was super responsive and ensured we had an easy check in and comfortable stay.
Lovely cabin, well maintained. Close enough for day trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia but secluded enough for quiet lake days/nights. Owner gives you all the info you need for an enjoyable stay.
Really beautiful property. Very comfortable and nicely done. Shasta was a great host. Very helpful and great with any communication. Highly recommend this property.
We had a very nice, relaxing time and the house was exactly as pictured and as expected from the listing! Our host was very responsive to our questions. Beautiful and quiet lake and breathtaking sunrise!
It was the perfect location on this beautiful lake with canoes and kayaks. Hiking to two awesome mountain peaks was only ten minutes away. Quiet and peaceful.
