The best area to stay in Babao, Yilan County, is generally within the main town area, particularly around Babao Street and the surrounding blocks.

This central part of Babao is where you'll find the highest concentration of amenities and is the most convenient for getting around. Babao Street itself is the heart of the town, featuring a variety of local eateries, shops, and guesthouses. It's a comfortable base for exploring the area, with many attractions easily reachable.

For couples looking for a relaxing escape, staying slightly outside the immediate town centre, perhaps in one of the guesthouses located amongst the rice paddies, offers a more tranquil experience. These accommodations often provide scenic views and a quieter setting, while still being a short drive from Babao Street's conveniences and local sights like the Dongshan River Water Park.

Families often find the main town area around Babao Street very practical. With easy access to casual dining options and local shops, it provides a convenient hub.

The best time to go to Babao, Yilan County, Taiwan, is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the area. You'll find comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C, and lower humidity compared to the summer. This makes it ideal for enjoying outdoor activities like cycling along the Dongshan River Water Park or visiting the National Centre for Traditional Arts without the intensity of the summer heat or the higher chance of typhoons.

Summer (June to August) can be very hot and humid, with frequent afternoon showers and the possibility of typhoons, which might disrupt travel plans. While winter (December to February) is cooler, it can also be quite damp and rainy, which might limit outdoor enjoyment.

For those looking to experience the local culture and natural beauty without the crowds and extreme weather, spring and autumn provide the great balance.
