"I would have never expected that anything filthy like this exists in New Zealand and is listed on Expedia. I booked 3 Deluxe Rooms. What we found was a run down filthy place and only one room booked for us, although I was charged for 3 "Deluxe Rooms" . We were offered one additional room, which was a "Family Room" with 5 beds, which we then had to share. We have never seen anything as bad as this before. On top of this it was unbelievably noisy, right above their pub with loud music and yelling...

"What an amazing stay we had - how spoilt we were to have the beautiful beach only a short stroll from the backyard (perfect for the tamariki). Well equipped, comfy beds and all round cosy home. The inside of the home was extremely clean and tidy, however, the outside needs some TLC. Cobwebs filled the outside windows and the place could have done with some weeding/pruning/tidying of the green areas (I'm being picky here!). Overall, we LOVED our stay and would book again."

"The bach was clean and the location awesome. We are happy with the typical kiwi bach and everything was comfortable. With the bringing your own linen and doing the cleaning, we thought the price was a bit steep. Enjoyed the balcony with the lovely view and the old school decor was cute. The steps really need addressing as I slipped over on them as it was raining when we left and got some good bruises."
