The hotel and staff were great - everything looks like new and is spotlessly clean. The rooms we had were on the 6th floor overlooking the canal, so we had wonderful views. I know it is common now in hotels, but personally I prefer a wardrobe and drawers to a hanging rail and shelves. (Though I guess it cuts the costs of furnishing rooms and means that I am less likely to leave stuff behind when I leave, which is no bad thing.)

Very well located for Museumsplein. Room overlooked the canal. Rooms light and airy. Great choice at breakfast buffet and lovely staff. Reception is not adequately staffed at weekends meaning long waits at busy times (10am/12.00). Leave plenty of time for check out if you have a timed museum ticket. Also guests at Reception were not served in order in our experience.

There was lots of black mould in the bathroom around the tub, and the shower curtain was covered in black mould at the bottom. The tables and lamps were dusty.

An excellent hotel on the edge of the museum quarter. Everywhere is walkable and public transport links are great. Lovely views of the canal from the higher floors.

The bathroom was very dated and badly scratched sink, cigarette burns on the side by the sink, cracked sealant all along the top of the toilet box. The room needs modernizing and whilst the air con was effective it was very noisy indeed - probably due to its age. My room 220 was close to the lift and noisy with the lift motor, I think the receptionist put me in this room due to me complaining about the 20 mins wait to check in.

The only issue was that we were on the last leg of our vacation and needed to do a load of laundry. Last time we stayed, we were in the same situation and used the washer. This time it was out of order. Everything else was just great.

Some disappointments and some good features
Check in was not ideal, the Hotels.com benefits were not acknowledged. Our room was pleasant enough, as was the bed. However, the pillows needed to be bigger, and the bathroom needs refurbishment. The had basin was cracked around the plug hole, for example. On the other hand, the towels were a good size. There is a good laundry that costs nothing, and everything is supplied. The free drink in exchange for not having the room cleaned is a great service. The location is excellent, close to museums, restaurants and the subway. I was a bit critical, but overall the stay was pleasant enough.

Great Location/Comfortable Stay
Have stayed at this hotel about 4 yrs ago. It was great then and was great again. It is a 10-minute walk to the two major museums. It overlooks a beautiful canal, and is a short walk to many restaurants/bars. The morining breakfasts, which was included in our charge, was okay, nothing too fancy. We upgraded to a sixth floor room with large windows overlooking the canal. Would definitely stay at NH Hotel-Museum Quarter again.

We had a bad experience at the dining area for breakfast. The Asian lady in particular was very rude to us, asking us multiple times what our room number was and we kept repeating it. We weren’t allowed to bring our dog to sit in the dining area (strange for a dog friendly hotel) and were told to sit in the lobby to eat our breakfast. The cleaning person (man) then told us not to sit at the tables in the lobby because he had just cleaned that area. The communication was poor along the staff members. The front staff people were nice and welcoming. The room was OK.

Great location and view - disappointed in details
The location was great and the view was awesome. The hotel room was tired with curtains that did not shut, pillows that had seen their day, no shower curtain - just a liner, plastic shower curtain rings. I would have thought that for the price and location that little details like that could have easily been seen to and fixed with just someone paying attention. Did it make my physical stay any worse - no. Would I stay there again because of those little nuances - no. As an architect that works in the hospitality industry, even older properties can take care of small things like that to show that they care about their property.

Plumbing removed from bathroom prior to visit. Sewer pipe simply stuffed with toilet paper instead of being professionally capped causing sewer gases to escape into room. Very unpleasant. In addition, used glass bottles and cans stacked on fire hose cabinet in hallway for days until people started stacking them on the floor. Finally some were picked up.

The hotel is situated within walking distance from both the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. It is also very close to the Albert Cuypstraat Market. The Metro is also just next to the market. Based on what we were looking for as traveling family of 5, convenience was what we were looking for and we got it with NH Museum Quarter. The rooms themselves were clean although the air con for one of the rooms were not working properly and that did not help with the hot weather outside. Addition to that, had initial problems with key cards for one of the rooms. Had to sort them out a few times with the reception. In the end they got it working. Reception staff were friendly but can’t say much for the bartender. On the whole, the experience with the hotel was pleasant.

Did like the breakfast and the team working in that area were great. Rooms were not cleaned for most of our stay - and towels were not consistently replenished. Staff at the front desk were not very considerate of my disability- I use a cane. It was only 2 days before I left I realized ( on my own) there was a small lift for wheel chairs to the lobby.

This hotel is all about location! It's in my favorite area of Amsterdam, close to the market and great places to eat as well as the museums. I didn't like the pillows and wish they would upgrade to feather or less lumpy pillows, and I often had trouble reaching room service, but those are my only complaints.

The rooms were wonderful. The staff was amazing. The facility is a five-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. My only complaint, though slight, is the distance from the public transportation. Regardless, were I to visit Amsterdam again, I would happily stay at this hotel.

Unpleasantly surprised
I booked this hotel because of its proximity to town. We spend $436 for one night. The pictures made it look modern and clean so we figured we would spurge. The hotel was in a good location, close to everything. The staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. Our room was even ready early. We got to our room and we were a quite dissatisfied. It was old looking and some of the furniture looked very unclean. We took showers after our long day out and there was almost no water pressure and the drain was clogged. We could have dealt with all of that, but at night the air conditioning fan sqeaked all night keepin us up. We couldnt turn it off or else the room would have been too hot. We had an early morning flight with no sleep due to this issue. Thankfully check out was easy and it was only the one night. The real issue is that i feel cheated. I thought i was splurging on a nice hotel for $436, but i got a step above a Best Western.

AMAZING view overlooking the canal. 10 minute walk to Rijksmuseum, grocery store, many things to do. AC was loud, but we were still happy to have it. Staff was kind and made the experience special
