"The curtains were not wide enough so as to block car head lights when they arrive a the parking lot in the middle of the night. Our room was near the Main Street so it was a bit noisy."

"The bed was very comfortable, and my wife and I like the easy access to the beach. There was a patch job done on the ceiling as you enter that needs to be redone and painted. Other than that, the room was great."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Alpine cost?
Budget hotel prices in Alpine vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $99 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
Which area of Alpine is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious travellers looking for affordable accommodation in Alpine, California, focusing on areas slightly outside the immediate town centre or considering nearby communities will yield the best options. Alpine itself is a smaller community, and while it has some lodging, cheaper hotels are more commonly found in surrounding areas that are still easily accessible.Solo travellers might find better value by looking at motels or budget-friendly inns along the main thoroughfares just outside Alpine proper, such as portions of Tavern Road or Alpine Boulevard. These often provide basic, clean rooms without the higher price tag of more amenity-rich establishments. Staying slightly further afield, in communities like El Cajon or Lakeside, which are a short drive from Alpine, can also open up more choices for cheaper hotels, including various chain motels known for their competitive pricing. When considering El Cajon or Lakeside, families can benefit from the wider selection of hotels, some of which might offer complimentary breakfast or have outdoor swimming pools, adding value without significantly increasing costs. These nearby towns are also well-connected by road, making day trips into Alpine or to other attractions in the East County San Diego area straightforward.
When is the most affordable time to visit Alpine?
The most affordable time to visit Alpine, California, is typically during the shoulder seasons – late autumn (October to November) and late spring (April to May). During these periods, the peak tourist crowds of summer and winter holidays have thinned out, leading to lower prices for accommodation and fewer people at popular attractions. For solo travellers, visiting in late autumn can be particularly appealing. The weather remains pleasant for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the local scenery, but you'll find better deals on lodging, especially in smaller inns or guesthouses. It's an excellent time to enjoy the natural beauty without the summer rush, perhaps taking advantage of free local trails or enjoying a quiet afternoon in one of the community's parks.Couples looking for a budget-friendly getaway might find late spring ideal. The landscape is lush from winter rains, and the temperatures are comfortable for exploring the area's charm. Many local eateries might offer special deals before the summer season kicks in, providing an opportunity for more affordable dining experiences. You could enjoy leisurely drives through the countryside or visit the local farmers' markets without the intense summer crowds.
What free activities should we do in Alpine?
Alpine, California, offers a variety of free activities that are great for solo travellers looking to experience the area's natural beauty and community spirit without spending a penny. You can immerse yourself in the stunning natural surroundings and enjoy enriching cultural experiences. For those who love the outdoors, exploring the hiking trails at Wright's Field Ecological Reserve is a must. This scenic spot provides a tranquil escape with well-maintained paths, great for a peaceful walk or a trail run. Another excellent option is a visit to the Joan MacQueen Middle School for a bit of stargazing; its relatively dark skies offer a fantastic view of the night sky, a truly awe-inspiring and free spectacle.Solo travellers can also enjoy the local community vibe by simply strolling through the charming village centre, perhaps catching a local market or community event if one is on. Many local shops and cafes are pleasant to browse, even if you're not planning to buy anything.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Alpine as a package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options. With access to over 300,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia makes it easy to build the perfect travel package.
Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?
Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline. This is often within 24-48 hours of your scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use Expedia's "Fully refundable property" filter during your search to find the right budget hotel in Alpine for you.
