"My husband and I were in Townsend for our grand daughter's wedding. We stayed at Laural Valley Mountain Retreat. We were on the second floor and had a great view. When I booked our room, I had no idea we would be walking up 21 steps to our room. SURPRISE!!!! These are thing you really need to know about when booking. My husband is 78 and I am 76 and have had total knee replacement in both knees. I was also wearing a heart monitor that weekend. Boy did I give it a workout. Two people staying for three nights need more than two wash cloths. The only time we saw anyone there was at breakfast time. The breakfast was always really good and the girl who prepared it was so sweet."

"We really like the cabin and the location, very peaceful!! There was plenty of room for the 6 of use to have our own space and an amazing deck where we all gathered to enjoy some family time."

"The cabin was very clean & easily accessible to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Highly recommend taking in the view from Lookout Rock, which about 5 minute drive or so! Communication with the hostess was outstanding too. Really, you couldn’t ask for more. The WiFi at the cabin was very acceptable & I was able to log into my YouTube TV account to watch TV at night. I definitely would consider staying there again."

"There were three adults in our party and we stayed four nights. We came to the area to ride The Tail of The Dragon. This property is in a great location with easy access o TOTD. We had plenty of room for a large truck and a 12’ trailer and also use of the garage to put our bikes away at night. It is in a fairly secluded and very quiet location on the TN side of the Dragon. You will also see wildlife roaming the property. We saw turkey and deer. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed in kitchen and bath. Also the checkin and checkout process were both very simple.We appreciated the host checking on us the first morning we were there. All in all I’d say I would come right back if in that area again."

"The size and layout were great, but TVs were not good elevated height made remote useless. Games in basement air hockey & electric pinballs did not work. Only 10 towels for a ten person cabin. We never expect food but no salt and pepper seemed cheap. Space parking as well. "

"We loved our cabin in the sky. The house was nicely decorated and well equipped. The dock area could have used some cleaning around it, but other than that, we loved our our 5 night stay. "

"Cabin was very cozy, mattress in the room with the larger might need to be upgraded. You can feel the support boards through mattress. I’m not sure if the cabin next to us was also people staying for the weekend or if they own it, but it was very obvious he was recording us for some reason when we first got there, that was off putting. This was my first time coming into the mountains. I wish there would have been a disclaimer somewhere of which road we should avoid. After we got used to the steep inclines and sharp turns going up the mountain we were ok. If you’re someone who has never been into the mountains I would say avoid butterflygap as your first drive up until you get used to it. Overall Lake in the sky is truly a magical place the screened in porch is also super cozy as well. "
