Stanhope Hotel

Rue Du Commerce 9, Brussels - Map
"Great location, wonderful staff, tiny rooms"
I love to stay at the Stanhope. The location is perfect to everything that I need to do in Brussels. The staff, bar and restaurant are first rate. You can't go wrong organizing a business dinner around drinks and a meal at the Stanhope especially in the summer when you can sit in their courtyard. The one downside is the size of their rooms. On my last visit, I could just barely squeeze between the bed and the desk to get to the main closet. The rooms in some parts of the hotel are very very small. Nonetheless, I will stay there the next time I go to Brussels on business.

Hotel Sofitel Brussels Le Louise

"Celebration Weekend"
From the moment our taxi pulled up at the hotel, our experience couldn't have been more delightful. The room was very comfortable and the bed divine... We had drinks at the bar, and dinner in the Crystal Lounge - also very positive experiences. All staff were friendly, courteous and obviously well trained: more importantly, all seemed to enjoy their jobs and genuinely made our stay memorable.

Hotel is very central, excellent welcome on arrive, friendly reception staff, very helpful. Got upgraded which was extremely welcoming to a junior suite, the room was excellent and in my opinion just the right size and comfort. We needed to get a car to take us to a concert and the concierge helped us and located one that was available, excellent considering we needed it within 2 hours of arriving. The driver was excellent and friendly and well worth the cost, met us afterwards as well and took all the pressure out of getting to the venue making it a great evening. The bar staff were friendly and served us extremely well. Breakfast was good as well. Hotel in a great position, walking distance to most things/area's and not that far from transport.

Avenue De Tervueren 134, Brussels - Map
"Pleasant enough but faded and not 4 stars."
Booked as a mystery hotel- you only get the name once you've paid. Thus very good value for money. The decor is old fashioned but everything works - it's just not up to the claimed 4 stars. However I would be happy to go back providing I could get a good price. Breakfast was 15 Euro but I didn't try it.

Le Châtelain

17 Rue du Chatelain, Brussels - Map
"Intimate hotel experience"
We enjoyed our week-long stay at The Chatelain. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender in the hotel bar was a really nice fellow. Sadly, we were at the hotel for his final days. He really made the little bar fun for us. We loved the snacks they provided in the bar. The neighborhood is decent. The tram is close by. If you like to walk you won't mind walking to the main square. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is long on boutiques and somewhat short on bars and restaurants. Finding a welcoming bar or restaurant in Brussels proved tricky. We experienced quite a bit of rude service. And the poor service wasn't just because we were Americans. We saw many instances of shoddy service to others around us. Many in the Brussels "hospitality" industry did not really seem to understand the term hospitality. The room at The Chatelain was nice. There was definitely some wear and tear. The bathroom had a tub and a shower. Of course they decided to put the toilet in a separate little closet. Personally, I am not somebody that feels that a shower and a tub cannot get along together in the same room. Our room had a beautiful view of the office building across the street. So, the view did not help boost the room's star rating. Overall, I enjoyed staying at The Chatelain. You may want to bring your own pillow.

Sofitel Brussels Europe

Place Jourdan 1, Brussels - Map
"Fabulous Hotel in a great location"
We enjoyed our weekend in Brussels and were delighted with this Sofitel. Jourdan Place is a lively atmospheric square with plenty of restaurants and bars and, of course, the excellent fries stand renowned throughout Brussels. The centre of Brussels is about half an hours walk or you could take the 10 minute walk up the hill to Schuman and take the Metro. There is a bus stop 50m from the hotel where a number 80 bus will take you to Troon Metro station. Screens on the buses display the stops so you know where you are.
