Great property and the staff is fantastic.!!

My wife and I chose Delta Hotels by Marriott Virginia Beach Waterfront Suites for our anniversary getaway, and unfortunately the experience fell well short of expectations. I booked a Suite with 1 King Bed, Sofa Bed, and Balcony View, but upon arrival I discovered the room did not match what I expected. The initial room assignment overlooked a parking lot rather than offering the type of waterfront experience implied by the property's marketing and room description. After raising the issue, the hotel moved us to a different room. While management later described this as an "upgrade" because it was closer to the water and included a kitchenette, the new room had two double beds instead of the king bed I originally booked. For an anniversary trip, this was extremely disappointing. I accepted the room because it was nearly 1am when we arrived to the hotel. To make matters worse, the hotel restaurant experience was also underwhelming. The food and overall dining experience were mediocre and did not meet the standards I expected from a Marriott-branded waterfront property. There were some positives. The property's location is beautiful, and both Hotels.com and hotel staff were generally polite. And although hotels.com representatives were courteous and ultimately provided a $150 future travel credit, that compensation does not change the fact that I never received the accommodations I originally reserved and the hotel management making it feel as they upgraded us.
