Heart of Cook st. Village Character House. Walk to ocean, downtown, Beacon Hill

This character house has an updated kitchen with new, stainless steel appliances, Gas Range, and granite countertops. Douglas Fir Hardwood floors are found throughout the upper floor. Two of the bedrooms are located on the main floor: The master will sleep 2 and the 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed (sleeps 2). There are two additional bedrooms in the basement, as well as an optional crib if needed. The downstairs bedrooms contain a queen bed in one room and two queen beds in the other. The 2nd bathroom with a shower is downstairs too. The house has a fantastic open concept with flow from kitchen through to the dining and living room and can host up to 10 guests. There are sliding glass doors that open from the kitchen to a 350 sq ft back deck with a barbecue. As you walk out the front door you are 6 houses away from the heart of Victoria's favourite local hot spot: Cook Street Village. Primastrada stone-fired pizza, Coffee shops, Grocery Stores, The Beagle Pub and much more. You are a 10-minute stroll to downtown or to the ocean. This home is ideal for families or couples. You have access to all of the amenities that a home can provide and more.

Great place for a family close to downtown
Our family of 6 enjoyed this lovely two story home located within a 10 minute walk to downtown Victoria. The property and house was very clean with all included amenities. The neighbourhood was quiet, safe, and very close to a couple small grocery stores, restaurants, and beacon hill park, which was awesome. We had a great stay! As others have mentioned, the upstairs floor in the house is on the creaky side (which is to be expected in an older home) and the downstairs area including the bedrooms has a very low ceiling. We made it work and the place was great! We would definitely stay here again if given the chance.

Girls Getaway
We were a group of 7 women who have been friends since grade school and now in our mid 50s. We had a fantastic stay at this location, there was enough room for all of us. The location is perfect. We walked everywhere, Cook St Village, downtown, the Wharf, the beach, the Moss St Market, and two of us went for a morning run along Dallas. Shane was extremely helpful with all of our questions and had great recommendations for places to eat. We would definitely stay again!

Ideal location, beautiful home
Our stay at this lovely house just off Cook Street was perfect. The house was clean, bright and welcoming and the kids in my family enjoyed the excellent toys in the living room. The location could not be better with great access to shops and restaurants on Cook Street, and an easy walk to Beacon Hill Park and downtown Victoria. Would love to stay again!

This property is not for everybody
We stay in vacation rental homes several times per year and have a fairly good perspective. This home was clean, we appreciated the toys, friendly neighbours, and an interesting location in Victoria. However we found some of the descriptions and photos weren't representative. We needed a 4 bedroom home and the bunkbed we were told would work for our young ones was unsafe without a guard rail, therefore we were basically reduced to 3 bedrooms. The 2 bedrooms in the basement are a challenge for anyone much over 5 feet. Also there is a very low ventilation system that has to be ducked under constantly, one of the 5'9" adults misjudged with painful results. We realized after several days the home wasn't going to work for us so asked Shane if we could have a refund for the remainder, hoping to find something else last minute. He said his reviews were all 5 stars and vrbo doesn't require him to. We decided just to make the best of things to minimize the stress as we were on holiday. There were also other things we found more inconvenient than unsafe such as no cable TV to watch the world news as we like, very creaky wood floors which work better than an alarm clock, and a cramped kitchen. Any one or two of which probably wouldn't have been an issue had we not been dealing with the other more important problems.

Great house in a perfect location!
Wow, we’re so happy that we chose Shane’s family home this year for our annual visit to beautiful Victoria. This immaculate house is spacious, well laid out, comfortable and has everything you need for a great stay. Wonderful kitchen; large deck with BBQ, table and lots of chairs; large dining area; big living room; 4 bedrooms; 2 bathrooms; toys, games, books. And the location is fantastic! A safe and quiet neighbourhood where everyone is so friendly; our family of 6 from the Prairies enjoyed strolling the tree lined streets trying to identify plants, butterflies and bees. We walked downtown, loved exploring Cook St. with its pubs and markets, walked to Beacon Hill Park, visited Moss St. Market. Shane is a great host, very responsive and kind; he helped us out when our airline decided to disrupt our travel plans. I would certainly recommend this property for a family’s stay in Victoria-I know we definitely will stay here again!

Perfect family vacation
Our month-long stay at Shane and Andrea's was awesome. The house was perfectly-suited to our young family and we truly felt like it was our home away from home. The location is fantastic - we loved walking to Cook St for take-out or groceries, the Moss St Market, Beacon Hill Park, Dallas Rd... So many things to explore nearby! It's even close enough to walk to downtown and is a short drive from so many other amazing places that greater Victoria has to offer. Shane was a wonderful host, quick to answer questions, always in a warm and generous manner. Thank you so much guys!!! We hope to return next summer and beyond!

Perfect home for a family stay in Cook Village
My family of 4 stayed here for a good chunk of this summer and we couldn't have chosen anywhere better! The house is perfect for a family and we felt so at home here immediately. Everything you need to cook, play and live is included - and you're in the best neighborhood in Victoria! We enjoyed walking to the little "Pirate ship playground", Beacon Hill park, the butcher shop and natural food grocery stores down the street etc. You don't even need a car. Shane was super responsive to all and any messages and knows everything about the area. If you are a family looking to stay in this area, there is no better spot! Thank you Shane & Family!!!

Perfect home for a family with small children - close to the shops, parks, beach and downtown
My mother and I stayed in this convenient, clean and comfortable home with two young girls (age 5 and 10) in July, 2016 for two weeks. The house had lots of girls' toys so they had a plenty of entertainment. The kitchen was newly remodeled, and had a plenty of cooking tools, utensils and spices that we could use. There was a patio with a propane BBQ grill, and it worked great for a quick meal preparation. The wifi worked good for the entire time we were there, and it was nice to have Netflix availability. The house had everything we needed for the linens, supplies and tools. The master bed room was located on the upper floor and the 2nd bed room was located in the basement, and an infant bed was available in the upper floor 2nd bedroom, but we did not use the room for sleeping. The best thing about this house is the location. We can pretty much walk to anywhere. Cook Street Village is less than a block away, so we could just walk for a few minutes to the shopping street whenever we need for something. Beacon Hill park, the local gem of Victoria, was right next to the Cook Street Village, and we were there almost every day, but we’d never got tired of visiting the park for the beauty, friendliness, and a variety of facilities available for sports and playground amenities. Depending on our schedule, we could choose for a long walk or a quick drive to get to the beach, Inner Harbor, and downtown area. The neighborhood was very quiet and safe, and people were very friendly and nice. I’d like to thank the owner, Shane for making us feel very welcomed and comfortable with his personalized note upon arrival, quick responses to all our questions and helpful advices. We can hardly wait to come back and rent this house again!

Great family house near Beacon Hill Park, beach, downtown Victoria
The house we rented in Victoria was great for us and our kids. The owner Shane was very responsive to all our inquiries and requests. The house has a nice patio where you can eat outside in the summer. The kitchen has a lot of supplies and things you typically don’t find in rental homes. We also loved it that the owners have their vegetable garden, and share it with the guests. The bikes were great, we wouldn’t have been able to carry our bikes from Oregon! We loved biking to the beach and to Beacon Hill park. The location is great too, the beach, downtown and many restaurants are within walking distance. If we come back to Victoria, we would definitely stay there again.
