Hard Rock Hotel Malta

8/10 Good

"Great property, staff just seem like they are new at their jobs. I know it’s a new hotel but it would have been useful to have taken on well experienced staff. They are pleasant, I just don’t consider them to be too efficient especially in the restaurant."

Hyatt Regency Malta

10/10 Excellent

"An Unforgettable Stay with World-Class Service! I had a absolutely phenomenal stay at the Hyatt Regency Malta. From the moment I arrived, I was completely overwhelmed by the exceptional level of service and hospitality. What truly set this experience apart was the incredible attention to detail from the staff. During my stay, the team actually recognized me from a previous visit. Being remembered and welcomed back so warmly made me feel valued not just as a guest, but as an individual. The accommodations were beautiful, but it is the genuine care, professionalism, and warmth of the team that make this hotel stand out. Thank you to everyone at the Hyatt Regency Malta for going above and beyond to make my trip so special. I cannot recommend this property enough and look recommend returning soon!"

Corinthia St George's Bay

10/10 Excellent

"Location is pretty good, close enough to either go on trips, explore Valletta and near restaurants, bars or those wanting more excitement Paceville a short walk. Be prepared for building work, it’s not horrendous, just a fair bit happening in St Julian’s and very nearby. Staff stand out at the hotel in every aspect, very friendly and service with a smile everywhere, including booking taxis. Hotel is 5 star which at night looks lovely, maybe like some reviews said a little dated in the daytime. Rooms are well serviced if a little dated again and Spa is great. Think over the 4 full days we stayed in an executive room, we visited the executive lounge for snacks early afternoon and drinks/nibbles every day; there was an Indian lady, I think Pria? Her smiling face, general conversation made it so lovely to go there. There’s more choice for breakfast in Fra Martino and we managed a table outside every morning. If you like sun bathing by pools, with bars at each it’s perfect, we preferred the Lido and still received an occasional drinks service, There is a small sandy beach though in the bay if you walk a few hundred metres, just expect it to be busy peak season. Debated whether to give it 4 or 5 stars not due to it needing refurbishing a bit, more down to the advertised sea view. My main negative it was a side sea view at best sat on the balcony of 517. The photo showing the sea view is standing up and turning 45 degrees, sat down it’s a nice view of car parks and housing hmmm"

InterContinental Malta by IHG

8/10 Good

"This hotel does not live up to the Intercontinental name. The hotel needs major room renovations. The lobby area and restaurant areas are nice but the rooms are so outdated. The 1st room we checked in had a musty smell and the carpets were stained. Asked for a room change, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The 2nd room was a bit better but the same issue with the old carpet. We had club access which gave us separate breakfast area, tea time and pre-dinner food and drinks. The Seabeach pool on 19th floor is very nice but even with Club Access we were told that the amenities were not included and it was an extra charge. Overall not a bad stay. Location is perfect. The staff made sure we were taken care of, and they worked very hard with a smile 😊"

Frequently asked questions

What other neighbourhoods are similar to Tal-Plier?

While Tal-Plier is unique, the neighbourhoods of Marsascala and Sliema offer similar qualities that cater to different preferences.

Marsascala, located in the South Eastern Region, is a good choice for visitors who appreciate a relaxed, seaside village feel. It's known for its picturesque harbour, lined with fishing boats and waterfront restaurants, particularly along the Triq ix-Xatt promenade. It's generally quieter than Tal-Plier but still offers a good selection of eateries and local shops. Families often find Marsascala appealing due to its calmer atmosphere, a pleasant promenade for strolls, and several small, child-friendly swimming spots.

Sliema, on the other hand, is a bustling coastal town that shares Tal-Plier's focus on modern amenities and convenience but on a larger scale. It's a key commercial and residential hub, with a long promenade great for walking or jogging, offering views across to Valletta. The main shopping street, Tower Road, features many high-street brands and cafes. Couples looking for a lively base with plenty of dining and shopping options, alongside easy access to public transport for exploring the island, will find Sliema very suitable.

When is the best time to go to Tal-Plier?

The best time to visit Tal-Plier is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October).

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm without the intense heat of summer, making it ideal for exploring. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions and beaches. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, particularly in late spring and early autumn.

For those looking to enjoy the island's outdoor activities, such as hiking along the coastal paths or exploring historical sites, these periods offer comfortable temperatures. Travellers looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate the calmer atmosphere and more readily available restaurant reservations.

While summer (June to August) offers guaranteed sunshine and a lively option, it can be very hot and busy, especially at popular spots.
