If peace and quiet in your own home are what you desire, Apple Cottage is the perfect retreat to bring the family and escape it all. Nestled on the shore of Western Way, the house offers the visitor plenty of privacy and access to the ocean's edge, surrounded by spectacular scenery. There is easy access to every activity Acadia has to offer, even free public transportation, in season, right from the end of the driveway. Easy convenience to the park, shopping, free public transportation in season, and all the other activities here on Mt Desert Island. About two hundred yards from the coastline. Delightful character with a large yard and gardens surrounding. Wander down to the water's edge, or enjoy nature from the deck, listening to the endless chatter among the birds and the sounds of the nearby ocean. A great place for kids and adults to explore all that Mount Desert and Acadia National Park have to offer. Sit on the deck and enjoy fresh lobster while viewing sailboat races and passing boats. The house is a short distance from the favorite Acadia National Park hiking trails, Wonderland and Ships Harbor and just a five minute drive from the delightful village of Southwest Harbor. Within a short distance there are the many recreational opportunities of Acadia National Park with its extensive network of hiking trails and carriage roads. After apologies, the solution offered was to move us to the much larger and gorgeous 3Br ocean front cottage next door. The “Sand Dollar” cottage is a beautifully restored Maine “shingled cottage” that deserves a “10.” The location on the “quiet side” of MDI could not be better with easy access to restaurants, lobster shacks, hiking trails and other Acadia NP amenities.
