KOKO HOTEL Residence Kyoto Nijo Castle

10/10 Excellent
"The room was super spacious and comfortable for our family of 4 for 6 nights. Although it is not right in the centre of the action, it is in a great location with good food and konbini near by. About 20 minutes to the downtown area and less than 10 minutes to the subway station."

RESI STAY Nishijin

RESI STAY Nishijin

10/10 Excellent
"I stayed at Resi Nishijin in Kyoto with my family of 4 and the room was big and well equipped. Clean and beds were comfortable. The washing machine was handy and the space was appreciated. The area whilst quiet is connected well with buses. There is a bus stop right outside. It is about 25mins walk to the golden pavilion. It is a 20-25min bus ride back to Kyoto Station and about 3600 Yen via taxi to the Station as Buses don’t allow big luggages on board - although I saw many foreigners do this during our bus ride. Get an all day bus pass for 1100 yen - good value. Google maps works well to help get you around. If you prefer to be closer to Kyoto station - then this isn’t the place for you but we appreciated the space of the room so it worked for us. Staff at reception were nice and we had a free shuttle to the hotel but had to book a taxi for our ride back to Kyoto station after checkout. Plenty of nice places to eat around the hotel and supermarket across the street. Lifts were available too."

The GrandWest Arashiyama

The GrandWest Arashiyama

8/10 Good
"Everything was great; probably the most spacious hotel you'll stay in Japan. Perfect location - Arashiyama was our absolute favorite area in Kyoto. Breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly and helpful. One of the staff members even graciously helped us book a reservation at the beautiful Shoraian restaurant local to Kyoto, which was amazing. Our only wish was to have researched a bit more to know that there isn't an elevator or ramps for this 3-story building before booking, so a warning for those who are looking for something easier for older folks or wheelchair accessibility. It wasn't as convenient for our senior mom, but otherwise, zero otherwise!"
