Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Polo?
The best area to stay in Polo is within the town centre itself, which offers the most convenient access to local life and attractions.

Polo is a small, elevated town known for its cooler climate and coffee plantations. The town centre is relatively compact, with the main square, Parque Central de Polo, serving as a focal point. Around this square, you'll find the local church, a few small shops, and eateries. The streets are generally narrow and wind up and down the hillsides, offering views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Accommodation options are typically guesthouses or small hotels that blend into the local architecture.

For couples seeking a quiet retreat amidst nature, staying in or just outside the town centre is ideal. You'll be within easy reach of coffee farm tours, where you can learn about the coffee-making process and sample local brews. The cooler mountain air provides a refreshing escape, and the natural beauty of the area, including nearby rivers and hiking trails, offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation and exploration.

Travellers looking for a genuine experience of Dominican mountain life will also appreciate staying in Polo's centre. It's a place where you can observe daily routines, enjoy local cuisine, and connect with the community.
When is the best time to go to Polo?
The best time to go to Polo is during the dry season, which runs from December to April.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty. This period is great for outdoor activities like hiking through the lush coffee plantations or visiting the stunning waterfalls nearby, ensuring your plans aren't interrupted by unexpected showers.

For those seeking a more relaxed pace and fewer crowds, the shoulder months of November and May can also be a good option.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Polo.
How much is the nightly rate at a Polo hotel?

All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay.
