An Etruscan set of ruins adorns the southern end of a sparkling bay where today you’ll find ice cream shops, pizzerias and lidos.

Restaurants and bars with terraces providing scenic vistas of the Tyrrhenian Sea make Tarquinia Beach the perfect spot for an aperitif at sunset. Spacious and pristine, the sandy strand also has plenty of fun activities for all the family. After a day in the sun, visit Tarquinia Beach at night for a romantic meal or a family dinner at one of the restaurants that serve seafood caught in the region.

Bring a ball and play volleyball around the nets of the beach’s courts or join the surfers on the waves. Rent some of the many sun loungers and parasols that line the beach in rows. Sip drinks from the various establishments backing onto the beach. Between cocktails, you can cool down with a dip in the clear water. Lay down a blanket on the sand for a picnic and build up your tan in the hot summer.

Arrive at the Tibidabo Beach section to make use of the umbrellas and beach chairs. In addition to a bar, you’ll find ping-pong tables, changing rooms with showers and a children’s playground. Reach the southern end of the beach to find the ruins of the Etruscan port of Gravisca.

Purchase souvenirs and beach equipment, such as suncream and inflatables for the water, from the shops. As sunset falls, stroll along the sand and note the changing colors of the sky. Choose between the many bars and pizzerias that keep the strand lively into the late hours. If you are traveling with children, enjoy an easy meal at the pizzerias and pick up a few ice creams at the gelaterias.

Tarquinia Beach runs along the western border of Lido di Tarquinia, around a 14-minute drive west from the center of Tarquinia. Travel by bus to one of the stops near the strand and walk around the quaint town. While here, make sure to visit some of the area’s other attractions, such as the Piazza Magellano, the Porto Clementino and the Parrocchia Maria S. S Stella del Mare.
