"Very happy to have off street parking. Bus stop just outside property so chose to do bus trip to Padstow - this bus goes to Bodmin Parkway should you choose to travel by train to Bodmin. Nice and spacious to spread ourselves out. A few great pubs and main High St walking distance. Would stay again."

"Clean well presented accommodation, check was easy and well communicated, parking was easy to find with the addition of photos to help. Good location and pet friendly, close to town with a few steep steps but you quickly get used to that. Maybe a parasol would be nice to go with the table and chairs outside, even more so in this current heat wave. Make sure you bring some milk/water with you, if your after a tea/coffee after that long drive down, think that was the only thing missing would be a...

"The property was lovely, spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable, showers worked well. Kitchen was clean and plenty of utensils.
Only 2 tea bags and small amount of coffee in a jar that had been used previously. And opened used bag of sugar so wasn't too happy about that. We bought our own cleaning stuff as we were there for 4 nights, although there was cleaning stuff left for us. Ive stayed in some places and they've left better supplies of tea etc and even water bottles.
Other then that...

"I wanted to stay somewhere a little quirky and thought that this place would be ideal. There was a very steep lane on arrival. The hut shown in the picture is not the one we were in. We were under the impression that there was only one hut but we spotted 4 altogether. The reason I wanted the one in the photo was because it was close to the toilets as I have a stomach/digestion disorder and have to use the toilet during the night. We arrived about 4pm, unpacked the car and had a Quick Look...

"Such a unique and fascinating hotel to stay in. From the start you're already curious about what you would encounter during your stay and as soon as you walk in, the "jail" vibe just hits, but with it an air of pure luxury is felt throughout and every detail has been considered. The walls in your room are a mix of modern plaster but where they can, they've left the original exposed brickwork that the prisoners would have seen and felt when they were in there 200+ years ago. I believe most rooms are 3 original cells knocked through, creating a luxurious bedroom space with dressing table and then provides a beautiful en-suite which looks stunning. Underfloor heating makes the room feel welcoming and there is air conditioning in each room which again makes it feel homely rather than the cold cell it once was.
The rooms all have a plaque which gives details of a prisoner who was homed in your room (cell). I did expect a little more exciting than a woman who spent 2 months in there for stealing milk, but they have to keep it low-key I suppose.
The breakfast was delicious and for a Sunday, it was very busy but they handled it efficiently. I would recommend the restaurant although it is quite pricey. Sadly, no encounters during the night of anything other-worldly, but we absolutely loved our stay there and it has been a huge talking point with friends since we stayed. Would return for sure!"
"Just returned from a short but sweet stay at the Great Western Newquay at the beginning of September. Having stayed previously, i generally knew what to expect, although this time it was apparent that the wear and tear of many busy summers had really caught up with the place and it is all in need of a serious refurbishment. The public areas such as the stairwells, corridors and reception areas in particular are like a throwback to decades past.
The location is great and has to to be the hotels biggest selling points. There are many rooms that will have sea views, as well as the bar and restaurant areas all having great views too. The hotel is just far enough away from some of the more "lively" parts of Newquay, that if you end up with a road side room at the front of the hotel, theres less chance you'll be disturbed than some other hotels a little further down. It's also close enough to plenty of other eating areas and a short walk to the town centre to not be considered ti be "out of the way" in any shape or form and ofcourse minutes from both Great Western and Tolcarn beaches. Furthermore there is a bus stop directly outside the front of the property with services towards Padstow, Newquay Airport, St Austell and Truro. Additionally, Newquay railway station is just a 2 minute walk over the road as well!
We stayed in a sea view room overlooking the Great Western beach. The views are of course delightful. The room itself was very clean and although very dated well kept."
"Stayed in a small double room as it was the only room available at the time of booking.
Clean and had all you need just the bed was small for two adults.
Wonderful place with fantastic views overlooking the ocean and Tintagel Castle.
We had afternoon tea and it was amazing seating by the window overlooking the Castle.
I recommend this hotel for a unique experience just book in advance as it’s popular place to stay.
There are nice pubs and cafes in the village itself with really good food if you don’t prebook dinner and breakfast.
Don’t miss out when in Tintagel"
"Hotel is lovely , staff very friendly and professional. Breakfast? Saturday morning breakfast between 7.30-9.30 am, which is fine , only when we came in to have breakfast the wait was five minutes to be seated , no hot water no coffee , then told they were clearing the buffet away in 5 minutes people were still coming in for breakfast at the dead line 9.30 am , but they were packing away the food ??? Usually 9.30 or the time your told is the latest to be seated not they pack up the food ???? Never come across this anywhere before . So what guests should be told is there is no breakfast after 9.30 so don’t bothered coming in at 9.30 am . Very disappointing."
"We had a wonderful stay! Everything was great, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely recommend this hotel!"
