"Sounds Good" is a custom-built 3,320 sq. ft. three-level home loaded with great amenities. Our cottage has three master suites because privacy matters, a private pool and hot tub, and a well-equipped kitchen with a fully stocked guest pantry. There is a sports lounge on the ground level with a wet bar, billiards, and a large flat-screen TV for watching your favorite movies or for quality gaming. All our TV options stream via Roku and YouTube TV. Sounds Good is our second home, and we visit it often, so we only open our cottage to guests for a very short season of five weeks, simply because we miss it too much when we're gone. One important note: although Sounds Good is in Duck, we are passionate about the wild Banker horses in Corolla, just 8 miles north. When you stay with us, $50 from your week's rental is gladly donated to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund to help these wild horses continue to thrive. Okay, back to cottage info... Our five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home is very clean, we only rent five weeks! We are committed to keeping this level of quality for our guests (and ourselves). We aim to exceed your expectations because your vacation and investment are important. At the same time, we INSIST that our guests are respectful and gentle on our home. Sounds Good is a peaceful, laid-back place to vacation. We do not host parties and will not tolerate rowdy behavior; that's just not what we are about. What we are about- is being readily available to you before and during your stay. We enjoy getting to know our guests and respond quickly to any need or question about the cottage or visiting the Outer Banks. Consider us your text-able concierge! We offer a well-stocked guest pantry; please see the pantry photo in our gallery. We do not offer linens or towels so please bring your own, or they can be easily rented from a company right down the street and conveniently delivered to the cottage. We can provide that information to you if needed. Sounds Good is in one of Duck's most charming communities, Carolina Dunes, and is near the ocean, only one walkable block to the beach access, and the Currituck Sound is just 50 yards away from the front door. Enjoy the Sound and sunset views from the front balcony. You'll be near all the things that make for a perfect family vacation: whether it's strolling along the Sound's walking trail, directly in front of the cottage, or wandering through the waterfront front shops (1.8 miles south - a walk or bike ride away), or dining at one of the many nearby restaurants, or visiting the Duck town park for an evening concert, you won't have to travel far or necessarily by car. Back at the cottage, relax on one of the spacious decks or enjoy a good book under the second-floor covered deck, or chill in the hammock swing. The fenced backyard offers mature live oaks and is extremely private. Cool off in the backyard pool or go kayaking using our two kayaks. Launching the kayaks from the community dock is just a block and a half south. We've got the gear: wheel dollies, paddles, and life vests. Game night is always fun, and our home has plenty of board game choices. Downstairs, the sports lounge has two TVs, one at the wet bar and the main flat-screen TV. There's an apartment-size dishwasher, microwave, full-size stainless refrigerator, and a high-quality 9' pool table. If you're looking for location, fun, relaxation, and comfort, Sounds Good has it all because it's not a busy rental; it's our home! House Gear: Two beach bikes, six beach chairs, various floats, two beach umbrellas, DVDs, books, a high-chair, crib, booster chair, changing table, pack n' play, all expected deck furniture, hammock swing, gas grill, Blackstone griddle, and beach buggy to cart your gear to the beach, which is only a 5-minute walk. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. The location was great, the pool and hot tub were used daily, the recreational room was really fun. The owner, Kelly, was absolutely amazing to speak with. The house was clean, inviting and well stocked with everything you need. Kelly and Tom are the best and answered all questions we had and were available during our stay to answer additional questions. We made some great memories barbecuing and hanging at the pool and the pool table in the basement was a huge hit with our clan. Lots of tournaments were held between us. Probably the best rental experience we have ever had! House was so neat and tidy. This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and Kelly was extremely responsive to any questions. The beaches were within walking distance and the sound within a stone's throw from our rental. Lots to do in Duck and the surrounding towns were within a 30 minute drive. The nearby beaches were great to explore and the horses, lighthouses and shopping was nice family time. Can't wait to schedule our next vacation. We love OBX. ##### Mary C. Loved the pool and hot tub. Teenagers really enjoyed kayaking in the sound and the separate game room off of the pool. Bike and walking trails right outside the door. Short drive to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend the short drive to Corolla for a Wild Horses Tour. Definitely want to come again. ##### Brian H. Sounds Good was exactly as advertised - spacious, clean, extremely well equipped. The pool was awesome and we used the kayaks on the sound and the bikes. We stayed close to the house due to Covid-19 but it was super well equipped for cooking and hanging out. The owners could not have been more helpful and gracious - really a pleasure to deal with. It was perfect for our group of six adults and two children. My adult children really enjoyed the hot tub and pool table and we all enjoyed having our own private pool. We had plenty of room and the kitchen is very well stocked. Kelly (the owner) was great with communications prior to our trip and during the week we were there. The design of this house was perfect, with two living spaces and four bedrooms on the level below the kitchen and great room. That way when we put kiddos down for a nap and bedtime we did not have to stay quiet. The grandchildren loved the pool and it was nice that it was not in full sun all day. The beach access was right at the end of our street and the fishing dock close. My son in laws became quite the crab fishermen. The house is the perfect distance away from the actual town of Duck with its great shopping and restaurants. Tom and Kelly, the owners, answered any questions I had promptly. The house is well equipped and well maintained. Communications with Kelly were great she was super helpful and responsive. We spent a lot of time at the beach and then retiring to the pool for the afternoon. Cooking dinner for the family was easy in the well equipped kitchen. Loved playing all of the games after dinner. All of the bed rooms were comfortable. We tended to hang out upstairs in the living room after dinner planning games but the wet bar/pool table downstairs looked very appealing we just ran out of time to take advantage. We were there for the fourth of July week so the traffic was a bit of a challenge especially through Duck but the house its self was fabulous and the Beach in Duck is second to none. ##### timothy A.
