We loved our stay at The Equus! It’s quaint, charming, and refreshingly different from the typical mainstream hotel. The pool and bar patio felt like a hidden gem tucked away in Waikiki, offering a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. The staff had such great vibes and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay enjoyable and memorable. If you’re looking for somewhere with character, personality, and a welcoming feel rather than a cookie-cutter hotel experience, The Equus is a wonderful choice. We’d happily stay here again!
The room was musty and there was a slight foul stench. The hotel itself was outdated, the plumbing was loud and you could easily hear other guests through the walls. The parking was horrible but the staff was kind and helpful.
The hotel is small, very nice staff, the rooms are older but well maintained. The absolute only complaint I have is that the ac in our room did not cool very well.
The staff were amazing, all very helpful and kind. Definitely felt welcomed, would stay again. Rooms comfortable and clean. Air conditioning worked great. Location great a short walk to beach or shopping areas.
Not bad, but not great. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. They offer a free drink at the bar when you check in. This hotel is small and there are no views to speak of.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
Convenient location. Room was clean with rustic furnishings. Few amenities and food items available. Quaint feeling with doors open to outside. Air conditioning was struggling. High point was definitely the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Everyone one was pleasant. Overall, a dated but friendly atmosphere.

The room was clean, the staff was great and very helpful, the bar was excellent, I had a problem with the hotel not being accessible for handicapped. If you are in a wheelchair or have any mobility issues you should not choose this hotel.
The location is excellent. Short Uber or long walk to Waikiki Beach. Ala Moana Center and Beach are about a 5 minute walk. Small, quaint and cool boutique hotel. No elaborate lobby, No 5 star restaurants, Waikiki has so many hidden gems, a walk gives you a chance to find them on your own. Scooters and bicycles are available nearby. Everything is close. Love this place. Will definitely stay here again.
We had to find two rooms with two beds in each in a hurry when our cruise was cut short. Equus, a family owned boutique hotel in an older building, was able to accommodate us. Great location- we were even able to watch a beautiful parade the next morning from our floor. The rooms are nice sized.
One disappointment was that the lobby can only be accessed by climbing two flights of stairs - some in our party found this very difficult. We did receive assistance carrying our luggage up the stairs.
The location was a bit tricky…wasn’t sure where to park for check in and if you pass it on the road you have to make some u turns to get back. Wasn’t sure where the check-in desk was … the bar tender was busy.
The staff were all great. The rooms were clean upon arrival and the hotel is well kept and is in a great location. Just far enough away from the busiest parts of Wakiki but close enough to walk to almost everything.
Great place to stay definitely an older hotel on the strip but owned locally which is nice to know. Loved the location and would definitely stay here again, only thing was you can tell they mainly do spot cleaning for what can be seen, losts of dust and debris behind our beds and on AC, didn’t bother our stay at all though!
Friendly and helpful staff - both on the phone pre-visit (to me) and then, as I observed, helping another guest with activity options....
Rooms are more than adequate - comfortable and as needed. Hotel is within walking distance to plenty, yet away from main crowds....
Second time I have stayed there, and plan to stay there again.
