Located within minutes from downtown HIlo in a very quiet neighborhood, a short walk to a surfing beach and swimming river park… it’s everything for a group getaway. Both upstairs and downstairs have full ocean views, with relaxing lanai furniture. Full kitchens in both units, washer and dryer on site… with stocked amenities. A 3-minute walk takes you to watch surfers at Honoli'i Beach or to jump in the adjoining river for a refreshing swim. Explore the Big Island from the convenience of Hilo, or treat your stay like a resort vacation with the swimming pool just steps from your door. The upstairs is airy and grand with unending ocean views; the downstairs is a more modest but also spacious fully stocked unit. Together there are 3 bedrooms and 2 sofabeds. Kitchens: Full-sized appliances, microwave and toaster oven, garbage disposal. Amenities and supplies cover basic needs, and we can also help with special requests if you can give us advance notice. Living rooms: Each with a sofabed that sleeps two, 55-inch TV with digital channels (Spectrum) and internet connection to let you sign-in to your streaming services. Dining area: Comfortably seats 4, as well as a breakfast counter in kitchen, and remote-controlled fan/light. Lanai (porch): seats that look to the pool or ocean. Pool: remodeled in October 2021, has a bahama (seating in shallow water) area and plenty of poolside lounging areas. Guests are given priority and exclusive use of pool (not shared while guests present). Yard: very expansive grassy yard with unblocked ocean views. We provide linen (including beach towels), basic bathroom amenities, and can provide a pack-n-play, high chair or bbq grill upon request. Parking is available in our gated driveway that we share with our guests. We do recommend a local car rental company if you plan to explore the Big Island (they aren't kidding when they say big). We encourage guests to research and expect that we live on the ocean in a tropical climate--Hilo is the more humid side of Big Island, which we love for the soft air, but can mean more rainfall. Birds, geckos and insects are common and will occasionally sneak close to the house. Though they are harmless, we take great pains to keep our house pest-free and pride ourselves on keeping a clean home. Coqui frogs are now a characteristic of HIlo, they are never seen but gently sing every night for a few hours starting at dusk. Mari was super helpful and called us to walk through the home’s specifics. Enjoy the sunrise or whale-watching through the huge windows of the spacious great room. Relax in or around the pool. Easily prepare meals on the well-equiped kitchen then store leftovers in the large assortment of sealable food containers. Buy lower-priced fresh fruits and veggies at the Hilo Farmers Market nearby. Ocean views are expansive, pool is lovely, property is beautiful. When we pulled up, my daughter hadn't seen pictures and said "ooh, this house is gorgeous"... Hadn't heard her say gorgeous before this. Beach is walkable and all the amenities you need are in the house. Very thoughtful hosts. We stayed on the couch bed and my daughter slept in the room... so we could hear the waves crashing and wake up to the ocean. Great spot, will stay here again if we get the chance. ##### Joey B. The kids had a great time in the pool with the pool toys and variable depth water. We slept well at night in the comfy bed to the sounds of crashing waves and coqui frogs (they’re noisy but we loved it). The kids liked the couch bed. The space was open feeling, easy to access, very clean and well-appointed. Plenty of dishes, cooking gear, board games, art supplies, and other helpful odds and ends. It was easy to get to attractions around Hilo, Volcanoes Nat’l Park, etc. There was a helpful guide book by the hosts. The check-in/check-out process was easy. Overall the stay was excellent - the view was beautiful, the owner provided essentials for kitchen, some snacks and equipment for the beach. All a nice touch. The furniture was was in good condition and comfortable. Though I did inform the owner about some lights that were burned out and outlets not working. The pull-out sofa is extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very well appointed with plenty of spices and starter sets of coffee and treats. The pool is lovely and refreshing and has three levels. The views of the cruise ships sailing into the port of Hilo each day was enjoyable. And Honoli’i beach is just a short walk up the street. The lodging provides guests with beach chairs, beach umbrella and kid boogie boards which is a very nice touch. There is also a booklet with suggested restaurants and sightseeing options throughout the areas of the island which was very helpful. We took the suggestions for Pineapple’s, Kenichi’s, and the Hilo Burger Bar and were glad we did. The hosts were very nice and helpful. We had a lovely time being their guests. ##### Krista G. It was clean and comfortable. The swimming pool is not well suited to lap swimming or water aerobics, but we made do. The large shallow section (3 feet deep) has an abrupt transition to the deep end (at least 6 feet deep). We never had in person contact with the host but everything went fine. The weather was dry during our stay so we had no issues with the steep walkway to the lower unit. It would be nice if a railing was installed to increase confidence when wet. ##### Jack G. Oh my God this is amazing." It was the perfect place to spent our week on the BI. We love this side of the island and the ability to be so far north and still be withing Hilo I'm 20 minutes was fantastic. We loved the views and the home. My now wofe wants to go back without the kids to enjoy this property all over just the two of us again. Hopefully not during the rainy season as much and for a longer stay if they do a longer term stay rate. It was breathtaking and I wouldn't have traded it for the world. It would be a home like it or this one I'd like to own one day that is for certain. ##### Adam M.
