This was a lovely spot to stay. It was clean and comfortable and had all that we needed. You can tell the property is taken care of well. It’s near the train station but a bit of a walk from the heart of the city. Area is about 25-30 minutes walking to anything (food, activities, shopping, etc.) and loud has there is no insulation to help with outside noises or other guests. Staff was friendly but there’s no 24 hour front desk which they do disclose in description. AC worked well. The staff went out of the way to help us. I didn’t get their message asking for our arrival info (technical issue with internet service on our cruise ship) so arrival was a bit rocky. There was no sign pointing to reception so we were standing out on the street trying to message them until another guest pointed us in the right direction. We really enjoyed our time! Everything was clean, it was nice having coffee and extra blankets in the room, and we appreciated having enough shampoo provided for all three of us. The woman that checked us in was cheerful and explained everything thoroughly. The patio area that we had access to was quite nice as well. Our stay at El Roy Garden rooms was interesting to put it into one word. When we got there, the directions took us to a completely different building, and there was nobody there to check us in. I then called and then somebody came. However what I cared about most was the area, it was just my boyfriend and I staying here, and this hotel was in a pretty unsafe area, which made me uneasy. The man who cleaned was very nice and made sure to smile as we passed and such, and made sure our room was clean. The address provided was not accurate, and we had to wait under the hot sun for 20 minutes for someone to arrive and open the door. Unfortunately, the person assisting us didn’t speak English or French, so all communication had to be done via WhatsApp. Inside the room, both the AC and fridge were leaking, and we had to mop the floor and dry the walls every evening upon our return. Towels were not changed on the morning of our second day, and the property had many stairs, which may be challenging for some guests.
