Hotels in El Gezira, Luxor

"An excellent hotel offering all the amenities and services you would expect from a five star stay. However, the experience is somewhat spoilt by the persistent and rather annoying taxi and horse carriage drivers gathered at the entrance which unfortunately is the case for most of Luxor. It would greatly improve guest comfort if they were positioned further away from the hotel. Additionally, the presence of horse waste on the road leading to the entrance area is both unpleasant in appearance and smell, which impacts the overall impression. I understand this may be outside control of the hotel but thought I would mention it. "

"Great hotel within close proximity to West Bank and East Bank. A great place to stay if undertaking tours of these areas. Pool area is nice overlooking the West Bank. Food was very affordable and delicious. The staff are very nice. The hotel is very well protected. "

"Very clean and well appointed room. Beautiful pool area with lovely views of the Nile. Delicious breakfast buffet with lots of variety. Lots of restaurants on site. Good location. 15 minute walk to the Luxor Temple. "

"Took a taxi to the airport. Some staff very helpful others, particularly when we wanted to order snacks and drinks late afternoon needed to be 'chased down' to take our order. Bar staff always noted our arrival but were significantly inconvenienced when it came to assist us. Room cleaning staff were helpful and did a good job."

"Misselling, scams and Salmonella - that's all this place will promise. View the photos to see for yourself. Firstly, we booked a two bedroom suite - what we actually got was an open plan suite with beds in different areas. Having a door to provide isolation and privacy is a legal standard (if purchasing from the UK). Beds could view directly into each other without any option of privacy. Also, bathrooms in this shared environment don't have locks on the doors. When I complained about this, I was told there were no other options and booking two separate bedrooms would incur a cost. Secondly, I was served raw chicken on Friday 03 April. By Sunday, Salmonella had fully kicked in. Whilst I was alerting staff to this, other people we're complaining about the same thing. They obviously didn't learn their lesson as another review from a couple of days ago shows raw chicken was served at breakfast, causing food poisoning again. Thirdly, we were informed that going to a restaurant other than the main buffet would be possible at a supplementary cost. We thought this was entirely reasonable and went to the Sway restaurant. The food there was enjoyable and the service was great, however we were charged 8x the agreed price at checkout and no-one was interested as to what we were promised. On a daily basis we complained that our air conditioning wasn't functioning - no-one came and fixed it which left us very uncomfortable, especially at night."

"Do NOT be fooled by their delightful pictures - the hotel is run down, dirty, uncared for and lacking in many basics. In our doulbe room, there was one broken coathanger for us both - I ask for more - none came, so nowhere to hang clothes. Bed WAS comfortable however. The bathroom bin was again filthy and the shower curtain stained bacteria pink at the bottom. Soap is provided. The pool area is in need of upgrading - the sun lounger pads are filthy. Garden could be lovely - again if it was cared for, Owners/staff lie about the foyer making walking through feel uncomfortable. Breakfast was varied, but cold! Cold rice, cold scrambled eggs. No-one spoke any english to understand request for butter. Lastly they askED for $25 to take us to train station. We refused. One of their team asked us again 5 times right up until we were walking out the door, coming down to $10. We had already decided to go independently by ferry and in-drive taxi - costing us £5. They get you beer from elswhere which you have to pay in cash"

"Good location, on West bank close to several eating options and easy access to private boats to cross to East Bank (100EGYP per boat). Roome big and clean, good water pressure in showers. Good view from terrace restaurant. But can be much better in terms of facilities provided. I did not get river view room despite specifically booking one for extra. Breakfast quite limited and despite being served on table per head, not hot. Refrigerator in room not cooling properly. No chair/tables in room. Do not provide any water bottles on check in day and no tea/coffee kettle provided either. "

"The hotel is old and somewhat disorganized and not that clean, the food is good and it has s good location. Please do not book any tours with them, they not only overcharge you and tell you everything will be perfect since they want good reviews but the truth is after you pay they never answer your messages, if they come to do the tours they are always late and for the hot air balloons me and my family woke up at 4 because it was supposed to be at 5 and no one from the hotel answer or the guy who I booked with yunis even pick up after 40 minutes to finally tell me it was canceled which was a lie because I found out balloons dud fly that day and he didn’t even book that just to make you buy a package that its not even reliable "
