He was also very helpful and gave us lots of advice about getting around Edinburgh. The hotel is situated a 12-minute bus ride from the city centre, in a very safe quiet area of town. AND I HAD JUST SPOKEN WITH THE OWNER...AND HE NEVER INFORMED ME THAT I COULD HAVE LEFT MY CAR PARKED IN ONE OF THE PARKING SPACES IN FRONT OF THE PLACE! NOT GOOD SERVICE...??? WHEN WE RETURNED IN THE EVENING I DID FIND ON MY OWN A PARKING SPACE AROUND THE CORNER. Edinburgh center was in acceptable walking distance about half an hour. Capital House does not offer breakfast of any kind but that suited us. I was looking for somewhere to stay between the 2 uni campuses and this was perfect. Also on a direct bus route to the centre and train station. It is an old building but the room was clean and comfortable with enough room and storage space for the 2 of us and a view of Arthur's Seat. A kettle and plenty of tea and coffee was provided as well as biscuits and 2 comfortable chairs. We had a private bathroom across the landing and up a few stairs. This was also roomy and clean but I would have preferred it to be lockable from outside so it was only accessible to guests in the room it was intended for. The couple running the guest house are very friendly and extremely helpful; the lady of the house even offered us a wheeled suitcase on departure as our carry bag was heavy to carry around on our last day. We were also offered the option of leaving our luggage until it was time to catch our train.
