The pods are OK, and the location near Smithfield not that bad, but altogether the place was rather desolate, I only met the manager? by chance (and few other residents, well, winter, and a weekend...). Only three bathrooms/toilets, can be a real problem in high season, especially if they are situated three flights of stairs down... Bed was in different floor and in a dorm with more beds than agreed. No curtains for the windows, no outlets in the pods. Every review on all platforms is answered with lies. No hot water for hours and then no water at all whatsoever for flushing, shower or even the sink. Dirty bathrooms constantly which all guests are supposed to share (mind you there are 4 floors full of pods and only three bathrooms with showers appropriate only for tiny people and that bathroom is in the basement. One towel provided initially for both of us and it was the size of a handtowel. The management obviously doesn’t care about cleanness, comfort or basic respect to the paying guests. The staircase is falling apart and it is never appropriately lighted. This place needs to be shut down for some time to address all unhygienic and maintenance issues and then reopen. It is not worth it even if you try to save some bucks. The first pod we got assigned smelled like urine, so we brought it up to the manager and they were able to assign us a different one. The usb ports in our pod did not work and this seemed like a common issue. I heard multiple other people complaining about this to reception. The "kitchen" is not a kitchen at all. Just a microwave, kettle, and panini press. There was 1 bowl, 2 plates, a couple sets of silverware and a handful of mugs to use, but no sink, so you had to take any dishes upstairs to the bathrooms to wash them. And there were only 3 bathrooms for the whole facility, each one with a toilet and shower, so in the morning and evening it was common to have to wait a very long time for any toilet to be available. The showers were quite good once you got one, and the beds were comfy at least. The bed itself was reasonable and the capsule provided a level of privacy you don't get in an normal dorm, however the USB charge points did not work, the towel provided had a stain (hopefully a mark that didn't come out in the wash but this still didn't look pleasant), old food was left in the lockers, the "kitchen"/reception area had bags of rubbish piled in the corridors, and the shower had mould on the ceilings. Mold, broken facilities, and filthy bathrooms. Avoid this place at all costs! We stayed here recently and I strongly advise other travelers not to book this hostel. The sleeping capsules themselves were okay small but expected for the price. The light worked fine, but the power outlet inside the capsule didn’t, so we couldn’t charge our phones. The main issue, however, was the state of the shared bathrooms, which was absolutely unacceptable. • The shower silicone joints were yellow and black, while the ones around the rest of the bathroom were completely black with mold. • The windows couldn’t be opened, so all the steam and moisture just stayed inside, making everything damp and musty. • The bathroom floor was constantly wet, with visible dirt and hair that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. • There was even a slug crawling on the ceiling, which was extremely unpleasant to see. • The toilet seat was broken, and the white tiles had turned brownish from layers of grime. I didn’t personally check the other bathrooms, but judging from what we saw, it’s hard to imagine they were in better condition. When we went to the reception in the morning, no staff were present. On the desk there was a small empty plastic bag that looked suspiciously like it had contained illegal substances, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence. Additionally, there were empty alcohol bottles left in the hallway, adding to the overall feeling of neglect. The space pods are AWESOME!! The bedsheets and pillows are clean, beds comfy and (visuallly) private! The rooms and grooves around the bed could use a vacuuming typical of hostels, and our booking for two sadly only equipped us with one towel to share, so that was less than ideal. Kitchen is not too equipped, there were espresso pods but no cups. Also, important to note there is NO parking available. There are two nearby Qpark lots but check the hours as the nearer, and cheaper one, is locked so if you need after hours arrival or departure, you will have to use the Christchurch Qpark which is fairly pricey (overnight was 51€....could be a bit cheaper if you are able to pre-book) and a 10 minute walk to Astra. Booked this as the pods seemed like a cool idea vs a typical bunk situation. Unfortunately the air flow in the pods is so poor that it’s difficult to sleep without the door open. The room was so hot and humid that my partner and I were soaked in sweat all night as well. I booked a locker to keep our valuables in for a supposedly refundable €20\. When we left in the morning the property manager was not there. I hung the locker key in the locker, sent a photo to the owner asking for the €20\. It’s been about a month and I still haven’t received a response. Bathrooms were disgusting and my 5’2” partner barely had enough room to sit on the toilet because the room is so narrow. Someone smeared sh\*t all over the toilet paper roll and it was still like that when we left. I’m not one to complain typically. I’m aware that hostels are affordable for a reason and don’t expect much. Problem, no receptionist on a Sunday and cleaner could only refund for one locker. Contacted hostel on the Monday through WA and problem solved, bank transfer. Thankyou for that!! Pods were clean, bathroom clean! Only negative was the USB points in the Pods didn't work and they were extremely warm, door had to remain open. It was clean, fresh bedding and towels provided and in the pods felt quite spacious and safe. The location was also good. The thing that let this down was the no communication prior to check in advising how to check in. We tried to make contact with the hostel and the phone number did not exist leaving us worrying that we were having to find somewhere else to stay and the cheapest available accommodation in Dublin was over £500\. After lots of Google searches we found a number you could WhatsApp and luckily we got our details to check in and access the building. I would say this is something that needs improving. Also the phone charging points in the pods didn’t work and there are not many power outlets.
