"Valley Inn review Relatively quiet stay the occasional train made quite a racket. The bathroom was clean, but the shower curtain was not long enough to keep water in the shower and the floor got soaked. There’s no bathmat. "We are a commercial traveler with over 3000 nights in hotels. We haven’t been in a Motel 6 since we came across the country from Ohio to California in 1962. Yes, their rooms actually were $6 a night back then. We paid $60 for our room at Merced Motel 6. That included a $6 upgrade fee to get a ground floor room. We only booked a single since we travel alone. However, all their single rooms are on the second floor. So much for “accessibility”…Only if you pay more… Our double room was so small you will bang your ankles on their plywood platform bed frames. The desk chair was so low it would fit a child nicely but not a medium sized adult. We added two pillows from the bed we didn’t use to be able to get to the right laptop height. There is no Kleenex box or coffee maker. We brought our own amenities. Our room was less than 100 feet from our car so bringing in our luggage was easy and quick. The A/C worked very good and cooled down our room (on an 88 degree day) quickly. The foam mattress slab on plywood bed was actually comfortable. Being a lazy Sunday night our motel area stayed quiet all night long. Check in-check out was simple and fast. The Motel 6 personnel simply did their job. No more – No less. There is a Black Bear restaurant across the street and various fast food franchises within walking distance. The best news about this Motel 6 is that they still have smoking rooms. We will stay here again when in the Merced area."
