Blackbeard's Lodge

Blackbeard's Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"It is older hotel with lots of character! We only stayed one night but bed was comfy. It was clean and quiet. Coffee close by. We had a coffee maker but no coffee or cups. Bathtub had great water pressure but only half when you turned it up to shower. There was a nice gameroom, porch, pool. A cool Blackbeard statue! Room was big but no elevator for those that require one."

"We enjoyed our week in Cedar Island! It was more remote than what we are used to for a beach trip, but having a very private beach was a definite plus and the house was just a short, manageable walk away. The enclosed porch was an absolute favorite for our pup. He hung out there in the fresh air every chance he could get! Take a day to check out Beaufort - it has a beautiful boardwalk and shopping. The Ocracoke ferry is so close and worth the day trip over! Be sure to book a ride over to Cape Lookout, too, via the Island Express Ferry Service. We went on the Sunset Cruise and were lucky enough to see both dolphins and wild horses!! We appreciated the host's quick response to any questions/concerns. Don't forget to pack bug spray!"

Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast

Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast

10/10 Excellent
"If you plan to visit Oriental, you must stay at Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast! The innkeepers are so friendly and accommodating. They greeted me as I arrived and took me on a tour of the house explaining the available amenities. The house has a wrap around porch, perfect for relaxing in the evening (I stayed in August and was surprised by the mild evening temperature). I had to leave early morning and typically do not eat breakfast so they had breakfast bars and fruit available for me to grab and go. They also have a coffee and tea bar available 24/7 with snacks, wine, and beer. The entire house was beautifully decorated and the beds were so comfortable that once my head hit the pillow, I didn’t wake up until my alarm went off. I stayed in the Roe Suite and web pictures do not do it justice. It’s a large suite with two entrances, one leading directly to the room that has the drinks and snacks (very convenient). The sitting area has a large comfortable couch, tv, and bookshelves filled with books. The bath, with tiled floors, full-length mirror, large double sink counter space, separate shower and large tub, is as large as the bedroom! And I have to mention the location, right in the middle of town, walking distance to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants, and a short distance to the grocery store. The innkeepers have thought of everything including a welcome gift with chocolates and a package of Magnolia House coffee. I will definitely return."

"We were able to extend our island visit for a few extra days, and this was a great place to do that for us and our pup. Bed was comfortable and the outdoor shower was perfect. Just a little more cooking equipment would be great - a decent frying pan and a pot large enough to make pasta - but we made good use of the outdoor park-style charcoal grill. Perfect for a couple and their four-legged friends!"
