Booking in was a nightmare. There is no one at th3 property, had to ring a number unfortunately no one answered. When I finally got an answer my payment could not be processed. We stayed off season and were the only quest that night. In fact we never saw the staff. Our room was left open with the keys and the next morning we left them in the office. Goes to tell how great this little town is. Very trustworthy. The hotel is located right downtown giving it easy walking to most things of interest. It is one of the older hotels. Definitely no extras but it was very clean and looks to have been freshly painted. My wife and I had a WONDERFUL time celebrating our 41 anniversary (Dec 30, 2024) and we LOVED staying at the Bluff Shoal Motel!! We GREATLY ENJOYED 5 days and 4 nights of peace and relaxation! The motel manager, Sissy, was EXCEPTIONALLY kind and helpful!! We understood that late December is NOT the tourist season and many stores and restaurants were closed. But just the right number were open for us to find exactly what were looking for! THANK YOU SISSY and THANK YOU OCRACOKE for our WONDERFUL visit!! We are VERY GRATEFUL! See you again, God willing! The area by the water was lovely. The bed was comfortable. Did not like the fact that because we booked through a 3rd party (Expedia) we were given the smallest, darkest room. The small back window looked out at a shower and the front window was very small as well. There was no room to sit except for 1 chair. The other person had to sit on the bed. I needed to use my computer and there was no where to put it and there was no chair that I could use as the one that was there was very low. (We were told by the absent owner/manager, by telephone, that we would go and take a chair from another room. We did and i used the suitcase rack to put my computer on my closed suitcase in order to use it. I also had asked if we could move to another room that had table and chairs and was told that the motel was booked for the weekend. I checked at night and in the morning and not all of the rooms were occupied. I even took photos of the parking lot very early on our second morning. There were 2 cars in it. Something really should be done to ensure that all guests are comfortable.
