Even better than the pictures! We had three families here for a week and had the BEST time! Location couldn’t be beat - walkable to shops and restaurants and less than 5 minute walk to the beach (and not the crowded public kind)! Having our own pool and hot tub was amazing on the couple cooler days we had where the kids could swim shielded from the wind, and the adults enjoyed the hot tub on those cool evenings. Host was very communicative. House was well equipped with kitchen utensils, beach gear, and other games and toys. Highly recommend for large or multi-family stays!
Well equipped house near beach and restaurants in Captiva Florida. Everyone had a great time. Lots of bedrooms, kitchens, TVs and everything you need for a good time and relaxing vacation!!
We had 4 couples staying in the home which is very large and plenty of space for everyone......really enjoyed roof top deck and swimming pool w/hot tub.
This house was lovely and had everything we needed! The pool was so nice and covered so we didnt get eaten alive by insects. A short walk to the beach was a super plus! The management company was super helpful with small things here and there and super available to answer any questions. I recommend this without hesitation!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Murmond House. This house is very spacious and well appointed. The Captiva beach as well as restaurants and stores are within walking distance. If we had any complaint it would be that cutlery and cookware needs an update. Great family vacation.
Property has an excellent location and was perfect for our family of 11 to celebrate a milestone anniversary. Pool and hot tub were fantastic! Also really enjoyed the rooftop deck. The ping pong table and "bags" games in the garage were bonus features. We ran out of propane our last night and mgmt was very responsive. Would def stay here again!
A year ago our family, 2 parents, 3 kids, 2 spouses and 2 young grandkids decided to take a family vacation. We ultimately decided on trying Captiva and we were not disappointed. The house had plenty of room for the 9 of us to be comfortable. The location couldn’t be beat, 5 minute walk to the or into town. I would recommend this house for a great family vacation.
All thus place is missing is a personal chef and maid!
I cant say enough nice things about this place, Hakuna Matata. It was magical. What really grabbed my attention was the thoughtfulness of the home owners. They kindess was noticed in all the small things. Thank you! You allowed for a magical time for my family to bond. And really what is more important? God bless.
The house was perfect for our group of 8. It was clean and well stocked for the beach. The pool was big and we enjoyed morning coffee and a sunrise on the roof top deck.
The only issue was the communication with Kingfisher. They never sent the check-in email. When we arrived at the house at 4pm, it was locked and I had to call. The check-in email was then sent after I spoke to someone. In my experiences with VRBO, the host typically sends the information a few days before check-in, not at check-in.
Our house was great but when we go there the pool and hot tub were off . We paid almost double what we normally pay to have a private pool.
We emailed the maintence there night and called and emailed them several times Sunday (the next day) but no one got back to us until Monday morning, despite them saying that their maintence is 24 hours.
The maintence team said that they were having phone issues all weekend. They finally came out Monday to turn ont he pool but it was a good 30 hours before it was warm enough to use, so we did not have the pool for almost 1/2 thr week.
Additionally, the washing machine was broken. They were very responsive to come out and fix it but they were not able to fix it so we did not have use of that.
The house was great but the lack of pool was extremely disappointing,
My late husband and I started coming to Sanibel in 1975. We came every year until 2023 because of the damage Ian did. He passed in June 2023. This year we all came back (three kids and their spouses and 5 grandkids 5-11 years old) to honor his memory and give him a water burial according to his wishes. I wanted to find some place we could all stay and enjoy the beach and have a pool too. Since homes on Sanibel are rented by the month only, I looked on Captiva. This is a great location. A short walk to the beach that wasn't overly crowded. A couple restaurants also within walking distance. The Island store for some essentials and our own pool. The kids and parents really enjoyed that covered pool. The kitchen and dining areas were more than adequate, and the two living spaces accommodated both adults and kids at the same time. With the downstairs everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The beach wagon and beach chairs and beach toys were also great to give everyone a place to sit and things to keep the kids occupied. The only downside was the elevator wasn't working. I know with the damage to so much of the island's rental properties everyone is on waiting lists to get many things repaired. For me especially, at 78 carrying things up and down the stairs was a challenge but we managed. When I called about the slow drain in one of the showers, that was taken care of in a timely manner. All in all a great stay. In 1976 we ate at the Mucky Duck for the first
This was an amazing location and amazing house! The photos don’t do justice for how much room you have and the elevator really helped with our grandmother going up floors! The walk to the beach is less than 5 minutes and the house had an abundance of beach toys and chairs for us all. We would definitely rent here again!
Feb/March two week stay. Nice, convenient large home.
Plenty of room for our large multi-family group. House design a little unusual but very accommodating. Convenient to restaurants, library, beach. Second week (1st week in March) got a little chilly at times and occasional red tide cough but would recommend the home.
House is situated right in walking distance to everything!
It was our first time to Captiva so I wish the house had more information about restaurants , beaches and activities. We happened to talk to the neighbors so they provided much needed information.
We had an amazing time in the beautiful home that was very well stocked. Captain Brain was amazing and the fishing and sight seeing was a highlight of the trip .I only wish that more of us in the party could have enjoyed it. The only drawback on the house is that I wish part of the deck was covered and screened in because it was hot and the bugs were awful. We would 100% revisit Captiva and stay in Hakuna Matada again !
We were scheduled to be in the Murmond property, but they switched us out a week prior to our arrival. So unfortunately it appears I'm being asked to rate a property that we ultimately did NOT stay in! This property was apparently having some hurricane damage repairs the week we had planned. But the rental company had told me months before that it had already been repaired and was good to go.
I personally loved Captiva Island better than any other beach I have been to and we’ve been to a lot. The house was just as advertised. We had an issue with the air and Kingfisher was there to fix it quickly. The house had everything we needed. Our favorite meal was the Green Flash, which is directly behind the house. We had breakfast there on Sunday and dinner on Wednesday. The gulf beach was a short walk but a golf cart was very handy. There is no parking for golf carts on or near beach so drop offs were necessary. Beaches were not packed, very clean and just wonderful. Saw tons of wildlife while we were there. RC Otters had great food and Boops icecream was a hit. They are definitely still rebuilding but I’m so glad we chose Captiva!!! This is a laid back wonderful but not cheap place. We rented bikes and jet skis from YOLO and took a sunset cruise with Captiva cruises. Everything went very smoothly. The house is huge. The elevator worked properly, which was nice. The pool and hot tub were fantastic. We used the grill one evening and it was nice and clean. They supplied lots of towels and left nice starter packs for dish soap, toilet paper, etc…. It is not a brand new build but overall a very nice house that fit our group of 10 easily. I would definitely stay here again.
The house was in a perfect location, and we rented a 6-passenger golf cart from Salty Wheels (call Patrick) which was wonderful to get around Captiva in. The house suited our family perfect. It was not a "magazine cover" home but extremely functional for families. We would definitely stay in this home again.
Thank you.
The entire experience far exceeded our expectations. The home was ideal in terms of location, amenities, and beach home charm.
Our entire family enjoyed everything this home and Captiva had to offer. Truly a wonderful week with memories of a lifetime.
The rental should have updated photos taken to give a better idea of the condition of the property. The house was perfect for 10 people, it is laid out a little weird, but plenty of room for all of us. The house could use some refreshing with indoor furniture and patio furniture.
The location was perfect and very close to the beach. The pool was very refreshing in the afternoon heat. We did have some minor issues while staying at the property but the rental company was quick to work with us to help resolve the issues. Like many of the previous posts, we had issues with the hot tube not working. It would filter and pump the water but it did not heat up. Not a major issue for us since the daily temp was around 90. But it still would have been nice to have.
We had a great time staying in Captiva. The house was located with walking distance of so many restaurants, grocery store and easy walking distance to the beach. I think during the week of our stay the cars only left the driveway twice.
When we got their the pool and spa wasn't as warm as we thought it should have been. We called the property management company and they came out and explained how everything worked. The pool and spa heated up really nice. Spent a lot of time in both over the course of the week.
The house was very roomy and everything worked to our satisfaction. Would definitely come back again.
In short, the listing over-sells the house a bit, but the flaws are easily overlooked given it’s proximity to one of the best beaches in the world.
None of the little things that we found impacted our stay or the fun we had at the house and we found that issues raised in previous reviews from a month or two persisted. While the management company did notify us - the day of our arrival - that the roof hot tub was not working properly it should be noted that this problem was mentioned in a review from July. So it’s a bit disingenuous when the repair person who came on Monday stated that is was “done” and needed to be removed. But then again - it’s a hot tub on the roof - that’s not why we went to Captiva.
Otherwise, minor - handyman fixable - things like shower doors that didn’t stay closed, bleach stains on the stairs, and rugs that could use a refresh were a little bit of a letdown, but again - nothing major.
In all the house was roomy, the elevator was a major plus, it was incredibly clean, and just a quick walk to the beach. Hopefully the management company will take these reviews - not as criticism - but as suggestions on how to improve the property.
We would certainly rent from them again, but maybe spend a little more for a more updated house.
